Visiting Professor at @UW_AOS, Associate Professor of Atmospheric Science at @UAlbanyDAES. Synoptic to large-scale dynamics on weather to seasonal timescales
#HispanicHeritageMonth Spotlight: Andrea Lopez Lang (@alopezlang) is a professor at @UW_AOS.
Her expertise led to roles where she served as AMS Councilor, chair of the AMS Board on Enterprise Economic Development, and Associate Editor for #MonWeaRev and #WeaForecasting.
Thank you @NWSMilwaukee! Was able to get some things indoors before this one went through. These hail stones fell at about 4:05 pm and were between 1.00-1.25 in near Chicory Meadow park in Fitchburg
As the fall semester nears, we're thrilled to introduce Andrea Lopez Lang and Dave Henderson to our faculty. Learn more about these exceptional scientists, and join us in giving them a warm Wisconsin welcome!

Big thank you to @amorganwx for spending some time with our @UW_AOS 201 class! We had a great visit and learned about communicating atmospheric science in real time! Thanks!!
This winter was characterized by anomalous warmth for much of the region. Milwaukee experienced it's warmest winter on record while Madison just saw it's second warmest winter. Even though we had near normal precipitation, snowfall was still below normal for the region. #wiwx
Andrea Lopez Lang (@alopezlang), AOS Visiting Professor, was featured on @wortradio's Perpetual Notion Machine show to discuss atmospheric science, career paths, and polar vortexes. Andy Lamia, AOS undergraduate student, hosted the show – have a listen!

While it's unseasonably mild in much of the eastern US & we could have record warmth next week, it's too soon to declare winter over. Polar vortex may still have some tricks up its sleeves.

Applications for the 2024 STORM REU are due February 15. Open to undergraduates, this research program is helping to shape the next generation of leaders in climate, weather, and water research. Please share widely on your networks! More info: https://t.co/sikyesY6zF.
I'm excited to announce that the @NYSWRCC is now hiring! We have excellent opportunities for both entry-level meteorologists as well a position for someone more experienced.
These are perfect for forecasting aficionados who want to apply their expertise! Lots more to come! ⬇️
Undergrads: Come spend 10 weeks (June-August) in Madison, WI to do paid research, learn new skills, and meet some great people working in meteorology, remote sensing, oceanography, and climate change. More info below.
