CalMatters, the nonprofit news organization that explains California to the 39 million people who live here, seeks an experienced leader for what might be the best job anywhere: Editor-in-chief.🧵
LIVE NOW! CalMatters Editor and Co-Founder @davelesher and Newsletter Editor @emily_hoeven offer unique statewide election insights at Politifest by @voiceofsandiego, a nonprofit newsroom like CalMatters that we urge you to support. https://t.co/PfADp0QSFV
We’re hoping that you’ll gather with a few friends, neighbors or colleagues this fall to share and use our 2022 Voter Guide over a couple slices of pizza. #pizzapolitics https://t.co/QrQ4qqbEah
Advocates, inmates and family members contend that, in cases like Adam Collier’s, a steady stream of transfers reflects a system that too often fails to adequately care for people in mental health crises. https://t.co/thLJeMO0Ny
I often ask journalists why they chose journalism. Top answers over 30+ years:
1. I like to write
2. Make the world a better place
3. Give voice to people who lack it
4. Hold power accountable
5. License to be curious and ask questions
6. See the world
7. Something new every day
It’s #GivingTuesday, a day when we ask readers to help us keep CalMatters free and accessible to all Californians. Your donation will be doubled today through December 31! Support us today: https://t.co/k0YchOpMJw
New adventures ahead: I'm excited to join @CalMatters in January to cover the Capitol and state politics.
This is my last week at the Chronicle. I was so lucky to work the past three years with the amazing @joegarofoli, @TalKopan, @dustingardiner, @SaraLibby and @trapperbyrne.
Enormously proud of team @grist for earning FOUR #OJA21 nominations from @ONA!
Especially honored to be recognized for general excellence among small newsrooms alongside @agenciapublica, @CalMatters, @MarshallProj.

@ChrisWHoene The info in this tracker about legislators is Personal (their background), Political (their districts) and Policy (bills and committees). I think that's informative, not destructive.
@ChrisWHoene That's harsh Chris and I think you're misinterpreting this. It's not hard to make people mad at government and I take this issue very seriously because that alone doesn't help anybody.
@ChrisWHoene@CalMatters This is not about encouraging people to distrust public leaders it’s about helping them understand and know those leaders. Transparency here means surfacing achievements as well as conflicts. Take a look, there’s lots there and more to come. https://t.co/mXqT5QeqNq
CalMatters' @RA_Becks won first place in @sejorg's Outstanding Beat Reporting, Small category.
"Rachel Becker impressed the judges with her in-depth, yet easy-to-digest reporting on California's contaminated air and drinking water resources"
