Set a reminder for tonight’s AMA with @davewin and ThruGreen!
We’ve all wondered why traffic backs up, 🚑 get stuck in traffic, and slow drivers clog the left lane 😡
Why not incentivize a better future? We can with microtransactions 😎

@Walters_Ego @benlandis @elonmusk Agreed. We need more connectivity and data. One of the biggest shortcomings with today's traffic lights is most are dumb. They don't actually know what the current conditions are. And the sensors are not good enough because the signals are generally not connected to anything.
@JeremiahWJohn@DocJohnG@elonmusk Well one reason is because Germans actually know how to drive because they have to get proper training to get licensed. Here, well let's say it's a little less stringent.
@ChuckBaggett@ErcXspace@elonmusk It's too much to assume that drivers will be able to control speed properly. I mean, watch any road and it's clear that is too much to ask.
@steveWithaG @ErcXspace@elonmusk Yes, this only works if 100% of vehicles are self-driving and all other modes of transport are separated from that intersection. And even then there will be hiccups.
@elonmusk Fixing traffic:
1. Figure out where traffic is and where it is going.
2. Connect traffic signals to that reality.
3. Prioritize the most predictable drivers (give them carrots).
Give people more green lights to change their behaviors, create a virtuous cycle.
@elonmusk@BillyM2k@OfficialABQ@elonmusk that + location/heading data from each Tesla. We are doing this now: https://t.co/5ncTM3Cpk9
It's not rocket science! (Couldn't help myself.)🤣
@elonmusk@OfficialABQ I actually have a solution already on the road as @fastlapp mentioned: https://t.co/c5JcZHjcTX
Most people would be shocked at how bad and wasteful traffic signals are.
