@drvolts@ethanfletcher I read your take back in the day, probably during the pandemic, when we were staying inside our tiny Brooklyn apartment with our crazy toddler who refused to sleep. Given how easy my second kid is I would say: maybe you had it easy! (we’re still recovering from kid-induced PTSD)
@drvolts Look, I know how this sounds (really), but… have you read this book? I did and I feel like it was the turning point with my RSI. I realize “be stressed all the time” is probably a symptom of being a long-term climate journo (and Dem!)… https://t.co/wHdAzWvTlu
@akkuhnt @bildungssektion @BIBB_de @DJI_Redaktion@Francke_halle I wish it had been me, sounds like an interesting topic. But, alas, you have the wrong David Cairns.
@drvolts What are the odds of humans undertaking significant geo-engineering (~2°C) and nothing bad happening from it (eg the pollyannaish plot of Ministry for the Future)?
How localized are the effects of spraying SO2? How quickly do these particles spread over / affect the whole world?
@drvolts Is there *ANY* “safe” or at least “reasonably safe” way to approach this?
What’s the least amount of geo-engineering one can do to test the hypothesis of messing with such a giant non-linear system?
The state legislature should pass a law allowing Accessory Commercial Units and some commercial uses in residential zones. The state should also legalize small retail and exempt it from parking requirements.
Separating land uses makes our cities less accessible and sustainable.
@emteehall also I wouldn’t wish colick on anyone. Our first was super colicky and it almost killed us. Godspeed to you, just a couple more months you can do it 🙏
@emteehall “I feel like it starts off real good, then gets watered down around ep 6” — a guy who also watches tv to feel something, anything, after taking care of toddler & baby…
@andy_matuschak@tayroga 3) Turn those story beats into Plot, with locations, supporting characters, etc that actually connect and reinforce the themes / story.
@andy_matuschak@tayroga 2) Map some element of that deconstruction into a story structure (eg circular story structure) to give you some beats. She “goes down into Hades”, goes through some ordeal, then returns to her home, changed somehow (presumably w/ new skill!).
