Personally, I have no sweet tooth. However, the hard truth is our society will not give up sweet anytime soon.
🤔THEREFORE, we need innovative solutions
As far as “sweets” and sugars go, #Allulose is the superior choice. Here are some reasons why:
👉 No glycemic or insulinogenic response, as show in human RCT.
👉 Induces endogenous GLP-1 production (nope, this does not contradict the above)
👉 Displaces fructose, which depletes intracellular ATP, leads to de novo lipogenesis and impairs fatty acid oxidation via at least 4 mechanisms (to be reviewed in future video)
I find the ongoing research on allulose fascinating, including potential benefits for type 1 diabetes via glucagon suppression, interactions with hormones like FGF-21, and the possibility that it could act as a GLP-1 augmentation tool in those with obesity (a disease with a GLP-1 deficit due to inflammation, L-cell dysfunction, and T-cells that decrease GLP-1 bioavailability) without the need for pharmacotherapy but with potentially analogous metabolic benefits

Full disclosure, at the risk of sounding like a commercial, I’ve been kinda addicted to these @RxSugar bars.
Yes, they sent me four sample boxes for free, but now I’m almost totally through them in a week. I took them on the road trip to LA and they were just perfect for the drive.
The major sweetener is allulose, which is ironic as most products that I found which use it are a bit too sweet. But this one is just at the right level.
Anyway, as with anything else that I share I like on social media I had no affiliation in any way outside of occasional free product sent my way like this.

CDC says that the average American who died from Covid had 3.8 chronic diseases… Why are we so sick? And why is nobody looking at that?
We know that it’s an environmental toxin. Genes don’t cause epidemics. Something changed around 1989.
[NIH] is supposed to tell us what’s making us sick… it doesn’t do that. What it does is it tries to monetize science for the pharmaceutical industry. It is now the biggest incubator of new pharmaceutical drugs, and NIH gets to keep the royalties on those products, and NIH scientists individually get to keep royalties.
We shouldn’t allow public officials to make money on products they’re supposed to be regulating. The mercantile ambitions of those individuals is obviously going to subsume the regulatory function of the agency.”

👉In this study, researchers showed allulose can reduce food intake in mice by stimulating GLP-1 release
👉Research were able to demonstrate the following axis: (1) Allulose triggers GLP-1 release (central graph shows GLP-1 levels in the portal vein after 1g/kg allulose) → (2) GLP-1 binds to the vagus nerve → (3) signals to the brain (bottom right shows brain activity signal) to reduce food intake
(Techniques used to demonstrate this axis -- i.e. GLP1 KO mice, GLP1 blockers, and vagal surgery -- covered in video - PLZ watch if you're interested!)
🤓Nerdy bonus: Additionally, the researchers demonstrated a "chronotherapeutic" effect: by dosing allulose before the light period (when the mice should be sleeping), they were able to reduce food intake specifically during the light period, leading to reduction in visceral fat and liver fat
WHY does this matter?
First, I know many (MANY!) people who are confused about non-nutritive (non-caloric) sweeteners (NNS).
Are they all bad? All fine? The truth is, there is a lot that's not known. But what IS known is that NNS are a diverse group of molecules.
Some (e.g. aspartame, saccharine, sucralose) appear to have negative effects on glucose tolerance, microbiome (https://t.co/M3vCYi2LoD; Fig4 is "money shot"), and there is even data for concerning effects on mental health (e.g. data from 2-4 Diet Coke dose equivalent inducing anxiety that's transgenerationally inheritable in mice https://t.co/u1a9RUTQOu and you'll never do this expt in humans so take these data for what they are)
Allulose, a natural rare sugar and non-metabolizable "cousin" of fructose, seems to have positive effects on glucose tolerance food intake, at least with the limited data available.
Personally, I think we need more research doing head-to-head comparisons of NNS.
But, based on the data I've seen, allulose does appear to be an interesting therapeutic candidate and, at present, is my #1 choice for NNS
