Walking & bicycling are fundamental modes of transport. Sometimes they can share space with motorists, but that's the exception not the rule.

Lancaster, CA transformed its downtown in just 8 months by redesigning it's main street from a mini-highway to a tree-lined boulevard.

For the cost of just $11.5M, the project has generated $273M in economic output since 2010, creating 800 jobs, and nearly doubling tax revenue!

Last night, three members of the @ChehalemParkRec board voted to ban bicycles from Bob and Crystal Rilee park, the only place within an hour drive for residents to ride trails. They caved to pressure from equestrians and gave them access to all 327 acres. See pic below

@TomHoldsworth7 @felly500 @olliehart7 Worked on an agriculture project in Central Sudan where the NGO flew in tractors, parts, fuel and seed to grow food. Although the NGO staff taught locals, the tractors broke and the hybridized seed was no longer available. They didn’t read the chapter on appropriate technology
