this is my pet urban issue and I truly think it's what Toronto needs most to bring affordability, equitable development, and equal access to services - all neighborhoods need to be complete neighborhoods - and the only way is to let houses become stores

@kverdek@insane_analyst I would love to read @insane_analyst 's look at Nokia as well. InP and scale across, plus maybe AI- RAN. I think Nokia has some traction in photonic inference, quantum networking, and topological quantum, though these r at least 6 years away from being meaningful in any way.
@insane_analyst nice to have you on the Samsung train, glad the ants got to you. So many reasons to like Samsung. Bonuses like Samsung being the largest shareholder of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, 23% stake in the best play for the ABF substrate supercycle and MLCC supercycle...
@LukewSavage@KashPrime "the federal government pays OAS benefits to many seniors who arenโt genuinely in need." This is a very sensible take, and actually effectively functions as a wealth tax.
@TheStalwart To me the biggest problem with Bitcoin is that the stablecoins take up so much of the practical use cases (things like private transactions, tax evasion, remittance, US dollar exposure, funding criminal networks) and thus Bitcoin is mostly a speculative asset
@TheStalwart@tracyalloway@timqueeney The most transformational 'rope' based physics technology coming soon will be topological quantum computers that utilize the 'braiding' of particle charges. It uses that core intuition that you mention Joe about something braided not moving. Nokia and Microsoft are working on it
@insane_analyst AschenBUMMER. AGI-pilled but most exposed to present-day AI / energy rather than the machine god flesh ie semis layer. Wouldnt a very smart AI system optimize itself to not use huge power systems? learning algorithm w chip codesign would solve for low power. Own compute forever
@leopoldasch Aschenbrenner is AGI-pilled but seems exposed to present-day AI infrastructure / energy rather than machine god semis layer. Wouldnt a very smart AI system optimize itself to not use huge power systems? learning algorithm w chip co-design would solve for low power. Own compute.

@insane_analyst I think it's because everyone on here has wanted to buy a power semiconductor name but there're so many options in the space and who knows which ones are good / differentiated? Your fast report has clear winners, and taps into latent investor demand for guidance.
@firstadopter@insane_analyst Can't Samsung avoid boom & bust? The foundry business is getting a bid and we will be compute constrained for decades, you get China/TSMC geopolitical insurance owning them, and they have unique process understanding in stacking wafers and GAAFETs and eventually 3D integration
"for millennia, people have prayed to God for help, life, health, longevity, freedom, justice - and for millennia, God has famously been pretty slow to answer their prayers. AI superintelligence that was aligned with human values would be nothing less than a God who did answer"
@zephyr_z9 quantum memory is totally different. imo braided / topological systems like Nokia's encode memory within their compute. quantum is coming and fast, but i dont see any meaningful connection to memory.
@TheStalwart Lots of asteroids indeed filled with unfathomable amounts of gold, silver, platinum, iridium, palladium. Only a matter of time (probably less than 50 years) before we can access it. From a solar system perspective these minerals are not rare.
