Register your septic tank, aid house sales, relieve stress, and help @ScottishEPA protect the environment. Our accessible, slick flagship service is back. What a tough few months it's been, but what pride to have this out there, better than ever.

Nicely put @allistairmcaw - every day since a devastating cyber-attack there have been small wins. It takes leaders with 'grit' like @TerryAHearn @kandrew to keep seeing the small wins and building the wall. We're 6 months in and never has the bigger picture felt more achievable
And another cloud-based service is available... if you find or manage a radioactive substance, you can notify SEPA. It's free and it's quick and the address is here:

I drew a picture too:
What a shift! So many blockers - as a direct result of the cyber attack - but @ScottishEPA's #digitallicensing team, with great collaboration, got it done.
So, if you have an exempt waste activity, register it free:

1 service back, 3 to come.
Probably the toughest week as we try to revive our online services following the cyber attack, but o! happy Friday.. we just had a fantastic call with @EnvAgency , sharing experiences about moving to cloud-based systems and engaging with staff. First of many to come.
Having been attacked its easy to see the need for fundamental change. As public bodies we need to minimise exposure to these criminals by doing less and leaving on prem IT delivery behind. Doing less means focusing on the services that help people get important things done.
HSE cyber attack: Vicious software used in attack on HSE specialises in stealing valuable and sensitive information - https://t.co/jHCpCWe8t3 https://t.co/TrGeWifVjC
Large-scale problems do not require large scale solutions; they require small-scale solutions within a large scale framework. Big solutions: slow, rigid, abstracted from real places & people. Small-scale solutions: nimble, iterative, quicker: https://t.co/UCiI17e9x3 V @IISCBlog
I was anxious about going public about what happened to me when I was hacked because I didn't necessarily make the best decisions. I need not have worried because @zsk the @BBCTech reporter did such a brilliant job with this article. Sometimes you just have to be brave.
Create a strong password using three random words.
The longer your password, the harder it is to hack. Long passwords can be difficult to remember. But using three random words will help you create passwords that are both long and strong.

”We are pushing nature to its limits. /…/ We are creating conditions in which epidemics flourish” - Dr Mike Ryan from WHO telling it like it is.
This is exactly the clarity we need from world leaders in order to bring real hope to the world. #FaceTheClimateEmergency
This, the 2nd time Rough Guides have voted Glasgow the 'world's friendliest city'. This is the city in which #COP26, the postponed UN climate change conference, is to be held in November. Let not just Glasgow (as it’s motto goes), but the world “flourish”. https://t.co/MSLDCIeDXG
Whilst we’ve continued to operate our vital flood warning service, we’re also making steps to improve our systems following the cyber-attack with the first major milestone reached today! In the past five weeks we have developed our new cloud-hosted flood forecasting system...
Great work freeing up @scottishepa staff to do critical regulatory work; and meeting our customer's urgent needs when moving house. Next step - software as a service for #digitallicensing - speeding up delivery of simple, convenient services for staff and customers
Numbers update: 100 septic tanks registered through the interim service to date. Not a bad start for a cyber attacked @ScottishEPA, and those numbers will only get better.
#Wastecarrier service almost ready to go.
Need: to reinstate SEPA's registration services
Difficulties: cyber attack, limited comms, remote working
Boons: can-do attitude of amazing staff
Result: simple, quick service so you can register your septic tank with @ScottishEPA.
