@Malachians Isn’t this exactly what they’re doing though? They’ve got Southamptons ex DoF and a non-football exec from City to run the business at United, probably because they’re more docile and cheap than hiring top-end execs from other clubs to show ambition
@htomufc He seems to confuse the number of players in a zone of the pitch with having the right players in that zone of the pitch. All well having 5 across the midfield, but when half are full backs and others poor / out of positions, they will be overwhelmed
@LiamTharmeCoach@AdamCrafton_@TheAthleticFC Indeed. I’d also argue 1 of the strengths you listed (stepping out of defence to intercept) is a weakness of his at club level, where the speed of game is higher and he regularly gets caught out trying this
@philmcnulty I’m sure Saliba and Konate typically playing on the right side for their clubs, unlike Upamecano, probably helps the decision. Upamecano also wasn’t as bad last night as commentary suggested. He made a few crucial interceptions and brought the ball out well at times
