I talk often about the two realities unfolding simultaneously in Kenya.

The first one is the experience of 97% of Kenyans. The Contributors. Those who contribute taxes, sweat, tears, and, sometimes, blood.

They get almost nothing in return.

Their interaction with government is primarily when paying taxes, and, when they are being shaken down by the same government for bribes for basic services such as a passport.

Then there is the 3%. Those in and around government. The Consumers.

The income the country produces is not enough to care for their tastes, and their chosen lifestyles.

So, they spend twice the national income each year. Not to serve Kenyans.

To ensure that there is enough money on the table to be stolen, and, wasted on stupid endeavours that benefit those in government.

Look at the first picture.

50% of the national revenue goes to 2% of Kenyans in salaries at the national level.

Salaries alone.

To 2% of Kenyans.

At the county level, 47% of the entire budget of 47 counties goes to salaries of the 1% of the county population in government.

In salaries alone.

It’s economic apartheid.

The insane and wasteful spending on trips you see all the time, is in the remaining 50%.

And, we have not spoken about the KSH 800 billion stolen each year.

Today, the entire political class is New York.

Posting selfies for us. So that we can see how good they have it.

On our dime.

Can you tell from their selfies that they ‘represent’ a country that is KSH 13.5 trillion in debt?

A country spending 84% of every single shilling on debt service?

A country that is spending 12 shillings on debt service for each 1 shilling it spends on healthcare?

A country that is spending 3 shillings on debt service for each 1 it spends on education?

Can you tell that?

Ours is a banana republic- through and through.

How exactly are we supposed to industrialize Kenya with electricity costs like this?

EPRA has added KSh22.31 per unit in just five months:
May: KSh4.40
June: KSh3.87
July: KSh5.18
August: KSh4.70
September: KSh4.16

Compare that with our neighbours.
Tanzania: TZS292 per kWh for general users, roughly KSh 14.5 per unit. Cost for industrial users is even cheaper.
Ethiopia: about KSh2.45 per kWh (this is subsidized but still).

And Kenya has increased its cost by KSh22.31 in FIVE MONTHS ONLY. The increased cost is more than the cost of electricity for our neighbours.

Then they stand on podiums and talk about industrialization.

With what power? At what cost?

Factories need electricity. Manufacturing needs electricity.

On Friday, 18 September 2026, I filed a Senate Notice of Motion under Standing Order 101(1) seeking to censure President William Samoei Ruto over a recurring practice of governing through oral and roadside declarations instead of constitutional, statutory and parliamentary processes.
The Motion centres on Article 135, which requires presidential decisions in the performance of constitutional functions to be in writing, sealed and signed. It argues that while the President may speak publicly, express opinions and announce policy intentions, such utterances cannot substitute for formal legal instruments where the Constitution or statute requires one.

Many citizens don't know why we fought for devolution. We can't go back to the old imperial system.

A KTN investigation into the August 16 attack on the Linda Mwananchi convoy in Homa Bay has named Governor Gladys Wanga and MP Peter Kaluma, with anonymous sources revealing that the two held a night meeting where Wanga claimed support "from above" and ordered youths to block roads and stop the convoy by force.

The recruits were reportedly paid Ksh 500 each, armed and spent hours until dawn on the streets, while local leader Abdi Kassim is said to have assured them police would not intervene in the ambush that later left multiple people dead, dozens injured, media crews assaulted and multiple vehicles set ablaze.

A General Constitutional Test for the IMF Treaty

A treaty, statute, or international agreement amounts to a de facto constitutional amendment if it:

(a) removes a constitutional power from a constitutional organ;
(b) transfers that power to an entity not established by the Constitution;
(c) immunises the exercise of that power from constitutional scrutiny or judicial oversight; or
(d) fundamentally alters the relationship between the people and the institutions through which they exercise sovereign power.

Where any of these effects arises, the court must ask one question. Were the constitutional amendment procedures under Articles 255, 256, or 257 followed?

If the answer is no, then the measure is unconstitutional and invalid to the extent that it purports to alter the Constitution.
