@sfrantzman Exactly. There’s an other siege in Uruguay history. The siege of Paysandu (my hometown). During the 1864-65 civil war the city was sieged by rebels and Brazilian forces. It was much shorter (around two months) but it’s a really interesting event, I recommend you reading about it.

@sfrantzman During the siege of Montevideo (the one during the civil war) there was a limited naval blockade done by the Argentinian conferederation army but it didn’t last the whole siege, as the brittish and French navies opened the blockade.
