@Empty_America I am scared of the tick diseases every time I go hiking in Arkansas, but sitting by a pond with feathery bright green grass and trees this morning in central Illinois feels pretty amazing.
Ireland has tons of green and no ticks. We donโt have an Ireland here though
@CkLorentzen@ArthurB@SamuelAlbanie Whatโs interesting about consciousness is that it seems to have a property of connecting cooperating matter.
โYouโ feel what you are based on the boundaries of your body. It doesnโt seem as likely every cell is individually conscious in your body. Which cell is the controller?
@Noahpinion Is an urban form ideal, or are we talking about ideal human living conditions? I think the latter is a much more useful topic to ponder.
What mix is best for humans generally which avoids congestion and enables cooperation?
@Jam3sRyanTaylor@yacineMTB@IterIntellectus We try, but itโs not perfect, haha. Takes a lot of discipline to only have healthy snacks in a house and we to a bit of bribery with special treats occasionally to convince the 4yo to try new things and eat more healthy food
@txgermanbre@actsmaniac Most of the issue is actually that our healthcare system is extremely inefficient. If we spent as much as a percentage of GDP on healthcare as those European countries, then we could more easily afford universal healthcare even.
@Jam3sRyanTaylor@yacineMTB@IterIntellectus Eat them. If she gets French fries, then sheโs not eating the chicken or pizza or whatever else is fed to her. French fries and potato chips are a scourge! At least until kids can figure out how to eat healthy themselvesโฆ
@Jam3sRyanTaylor@yacineMTB@IterIntellectus Man, the thing about getting their own snacks is I care about health and I really donโt want them eating nothing but goldfish every day.
Also, a vast majority of restaurants shovel French fries at you in the US and my 2yo will throw a huge fit if they are near her but she canโt
@IterIntellectus I have a 4yo, a 2yo, and a newborn. The newborn is the easiest of them. Not all are (if they are โcolickyโ, but he is easy).
The 2yo is tough right now. The 4yo is pretty easy too. The 2yo doesnโt understand conditional asks and throws fits screaming โNo, no no!โ When told no.
@uniqueRDC@malewiczz@WazzCrypto The people who make EV will make sure they only last so long. Every industry learns how to ensure they donโt produce themselves out of customers eventuallyโฆ
@uniqueRDC@malewiczz@WazzCrypto Thereโs also body work, battery replacement, tire rotation, headlight replacements, and even motor replacements/fixing.
You canโt seriously believe Teslas never have to have any repairs or spend anything on fixes? I know people with Teslas and know for a fact they do.
@DrDiGiorgio@DavidIAuerbach I also donโt trust my car mechanic for every fix or improvement they suggest, just like I donโt trust I need the extended warranty the dealer pushes. Should docs be thought of the same?
@uniqueRDC@malewiczz@WazzCrypto EVs will still have brake pads, transmissions, sensors, and other various parts that can and will beak, but it would be less that combustion engines
@cremieuxrecueil โIf you have ideas, feel free to tell me, because Iโm just not seeing them, nor am I seeing how theyโll make a big difference anyhowโ. Any hospital that accepts Medicaid/Medicare payments must provide the same rates to everyone else and make them publicly available?
@jesse_brodkin@JackScannell13 Possibly. I would imagine lots of the process needs physical verification which AI wonโt help much with but Iโm not involved with the field.
The real world (and especially biology) is much messier than many would want to believe
@ETadpole@eden__space@AlecStapp I used to love biking to work through traffic in DC. Iโm sure it was dangerous, but I felt invincible as a 20 something, and was cautious and courteous of the rules of the road. Not everyone is.
@ETadpole@eden__space@AlecStapp I live in a somewhat slow residential area of a city with metro popn of > 2M. Iโve lived in Washington DC in the past and it was much more congested than my mid-sized city today. I hate when people zoom down my street gunning engine at >40mph while my toddler is in the driveway
