There’s a lot you could say about how this isn’t actually a bad thing, but the truth is that it isn’t even happening. This is a total fiction. I mean, I’m sure some people have parents who are pressuring them about marriage and this may vary between ethnic or religious communities, but in general in the west this is, like so many things, a meme that’s like 35 years out of date.

Basically everybody tells their kids not to get married early, now. If their kids want to, they worry they’re doing it too young. They caution against it. They tell them that they have plenty of time. They tell them to get their life in order first, go to college, get settled in a career.

What’s notable about this complaint is just how out of date it is. Progressives won this already. But it’s also the reason they keep winning; they’ll continue fight these battles decades after they’re over. They won’t stop. They’ll just keep imagining the silliest strawman version of the past, insisting it’s still true, and stomping on its head long after it’s dead.
