To do great things, you have to expect it of yourself to do such things. But you can’t expect great things of yourself if you can’t imagine them to be possible. You can’t imagine what is possible, if you don’t know what exists, whether as information or potential. And sometimes, it is information that reveals the potential.
This leads us to a basic truth: knowledge comes before imagination. It’s the first piece in the puzzle and it explains why the greats in the past were obsessed with learning. Because even if you’re gifted, you can’t innovate around ignorance. You can’t intuit from nothing, it has to at least be residual knowledge within the theater of your imagination.
Education must be a centerpiece of your life if you wish to do great things. You can’t stop learning. If you abandon your mind, in the same way you abandon a childhood skill, it loses its edge. Education, here, is not about waiting to be taught; education is openness to learning, a replacement of sufficiency with curiosity. Keep this question permanent in your mind, wonders happen: in what ways does my ignorance affect the quality of my choices, or the effectiveness of my actions?
A teenage boy who is able to appreciate the depth of this question, pays attention to the gaps in his knowledge and pursues learning with an open mind, will make better life choices than adults twice his age. Because once you know better, you think better, you see better, you move faster. Whatever holds you up after knowledge can be more easily defeated (be it a habit or a circumstance). But ignorance, not so easily.
People trivialize knowledge because its influence is slow and its impact is usually overridden by more obvious factors and people forget or don’t see that knowledge was a component all along. It would take such a high level of abstract intelligence to see its correlation and most people simply have no interest in what they cannot use. It has to be ‘real’ and obvious to make sense to most people.
This explains why people are more likely to say: “power is power, not knowledge”. It’s not obvious to them that every demonstration of power, whether political, financial, or even physical, is already an expression of knowledge. It’s just that for knowledge to express itself visibly as power, it has to undergo an astounding degradation of its complexities, only the simple useful part make it to social consciousness.
I digressed. What I hope to communicate is not the internal architecture of knowledge or its logical correspondence with material value, although those are important things to know. More than anything else, what I hope to communicate is that you are always going to be better off if you make yourself a lifetime learner. Recreate yourself as a beacon of knowledge but with enough awareness of your own ignorance.
The Greeks had a beautiful name for people who were able to maintain wisdom and folly all at once in order to pursue more knowledge: they were called sophomores.
No man is perfect. Neither is any woman. So don’t go around looking for what you’ll never find. The best amongst them are those who are teachable and selfless. If you’ve found these in a person, do well to keep them.
If there is a God, then He must be perfect—otherwise, He would not be God.
If He is perfect, then it makes no sense that He would love or want a relationship with someone like me.
If He is perfect, then nothing I can offer would be fit enough to make Him love me.
The way Selman pours his heart out when he's ministering to the body, you'll think the members will give him 1 million each..if he can open your brain to pour the knowledge sef he would
I like what @Sam_Adeyemi said here.
Forget what you see on the Gram oo, success is rarely served a la carte.
To a large extent, you must be intentional about success, and then consistently put in the work!
Make intentionality & consistency your mantra!
Rich or poor, tall or short, fat or skinny, respect everyone. It’s the decent thing to do. When anyone moves mad or want to take you for an idiot, change it for them because your mum raised no fool.
Wealthy people think of investment when they have money. Poor people only think of spending. Wealth building starts with the decision to not spend everything. Where do you belong?
The biggest mistake on social media today is many young people outsource their brains to internet celebs.
Huge followers doesn’t mean sense.
Verification tick doesn’t mean sense.
Plenty RTs doesn’t mean sense.
No. No. Not at all.
YOU have a brain.
It’s not a decoration. Use it.
You are far better and more favoured than you think, but you won’t know except you try, persistently and with flexibility. Be free from the spell of thoughts of impossibility. Be open to new ideas. Things will turn out better than you think.
