To the Venezuelan People and to the Free Peoples of the World on Venezuela’s Independence Day
Today, the Venezuelan people commemorate the 215th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence. We honor the birth of our Republic, the day our liberators made a definitive choice: that this nation would forever be free, sovereign, and independent.
Yesterday, the people of the United States celebrated the 250th anniversary of their Declaration of Independence. Mere hours separate these commemorations, reflecting far more than a coincidence of history. They remind us that our nations are bound by the same republican ideals and by a shared commitment to the defense of the free world.
Two and a half centuries ago, the United States lit a torch of freedom, proclaiming a timeless truth: that our rights come from our Creator, and that power is legitimate only when derived from the consent of the governed. A few decades later, our own liberators led an unprecedented civil and military endeavor across this continent. They crossed borders, traversed the Andes, and contributed to the founding of other free nations. What would become Venezuela lost nearly a third of its population in the pursuit of its own Freedom and that of the nations of the Americas.
Today, with the moral authority bestowed upon us by the sacrifice of millions of Venezuelans, past and present, I speak to the free world with absolute clarity and unwavering determination.
To our allies around the world, those we recognize as historic champions of democracy, today we say: the Americas and the West must not hesitate. The Venezuelan people have fulfilled every stage of this struggle. We have built an unshakable democratic legitimacy, we have defeated the regime’s lies with the truth, and we have peacefully mobilized an entire nation that today is outraged and desperate for change.
Enduring alliances are built on truth and trust. Now is the time to move forward with determination and to carry out, with unwavering resolve, the decisive chapter of our shared strategy.
The true bond between the nations of the Americas rests on mutual legitimacy, on the respect shared among sovereign republics united by the same sacred flame of Freedom, the separation of powers, and justice. The extraordinary civic response to the devastating earthquakes of June 24 has once again demonstrated that the courage and dignity of our people are forging that future.
In these hours of immeasurable pain, the convictions of the Venezuelan people remain unshaken. We have chosen to be free and prosperous, and that choice is irreversible. As Bolívar did on every battlefield, and with the same resolve as the Founding Fathers of the United States, the Venezuelan people will carry this struggle hasta el final.
May the spiritual force of our liberators guide our steps, may our civic courage never falter, and may God bless the cause of freedom in Venezuela and throughout all the Americas.
I embrace every family devastated by the tragedy our nation has just endured.
I embrace every Venezuelan, both at home and abroad.
I embrace all those who have come to our aid and offered comfort.
I embrace the citizens of the world who continue to fight for Freedom.

As a kid, I grew up in public housing while my mom worked hard to provide for me and my siblings. My mom taught me that you can accomplish anything in America through hard work and dedication.
I joined the U.S. Navy out of high school to serve my country like my adoptive father did as a WWII veteran. I then used the G.I bill to attend college and eventually opened my very first business to give my mom a job — a donut shop.
That’s what the American dream means to me.
It means the opportunity for anyone in this country who grew up like I did to build something from the ground up and become successful.
I’m proud to be an American and fight for that freedom every day. 🇺🇸
Today, July 4, the people of the United States celebrate 250 years of Independence. Two and a half centuries of history marked by immense challenges, but above all by an unshakable conviction: that freedom is the only foundation upon which a prosperous and dignified nation can be built. It is this conviction that made the United States a beacon of hope for the free world.
In Philadelphia, the Founding Fathers enshrined an enduring truth: that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are inalienable rights. They are not gifts bestowed by a monarch or concessions granted by a ruler; they are rights endowed by our Creator, belonging to every individual by virtue of their inherent human dignity. Yet they also understood that liberty is fragile unless it is protected. That is why they gave the world one of history’s greatest institutional legacies: a Republic founded on the separation of powers and the rule of law—a system designed to ensure that power checks power, and that government never again descends into tyranny.
Venezuela and the United States share that same republican DNA. We are historic and natural allies, bound together by our commitment to democratic values. It is no coincidence that our founding anniversaries stand side by side on the calendar: tomorrow, July 5, Venezuelans will commemorate the 215th anniversary of our own Independence. That proximity reflects a shared destiny and an unwavering commitment to liberty.
Today, as Americans celebrate a quarter of a millennium of constitutional freedom, Venezuelans continue our own historic struggle to restore those very same principles: the separation of powers, an independent judiciary, and the dignity of every citizen. On this day of celebration, we reaffirm our commitment to building, together, a hemisphere defined by peace, where oppression belongs to the past and where freedom and opportunity embrace every one of our children.
At this decisive moment, we express our deepest gratitude to the American people; to President Trump and his administration; to the public servants, members of the armed forces, and all those whose leadership and commitment make the United States a great nation. Your support has been a powerful testament to solidarity, resolve, and the defense of liberty’s enduring values at a critical moment for Venezuela and for our hemisphere.
Let us remain steadfast on this path. Freedom always prevails.
God bless the people of the United States, and may God bless and guide our beloved Venezuela.
