Three Kids Lead Newburgh Heights Police on Car Chase After Learning to Steal Vehicles on YouTube, Crash Into Home

Newly released bodycam footage showing three children — ages 8, 11, and 12 — being caught after stealing a vehicle and leading Newburgh Heights police on a high-speed chase Saturday before crashing into a home.

Police say the car reached speeds of 60–80 mph before the driver lost control and slammed into the house. After the crash, the children ran but were quickly taken into custody.

Investigators say the kids told officers they learned how to steal cars by watching YouTube tutorials.

No one was injured, and the home sustained only minor damage.

The 11-year-old driver is charged with receiving stolen property and failure to comply, both fourth-degree felonies. The 12-year-old faces a charge of receiving stolen property. The 8-year-old is not expected to be charged due to age.

All three were released to their parents and are expected to appear in juvenile court.
