The thesis:

LLMs should not just be prompted harder.

They should be given a small, rigorous runtime where they can compute, recurse, remember state, cite evidence, and return compact values.

That’s what fractal-engine is trying to be.

wtf? is this goop is targeting freight and transportation companies? thats awfully suspicious because last time on dragon ball z (if youve been paying attention to my goop posts) we saw a very, very similar goop doing masquerading targeting freight and transportation companies.

this is the 2nd mystery goop weve seen targeting this type of company, except this time the malware has gotten a little smarter and (potentially) manually reviews incoming connections to ensure its the actual target and not reverse engineers. clever clever goop

tell us your secrets mystery threat group attacking transportation companies in the united states. who are you and why do you need to know what truckers are delivering

it blows my mind how many people get on here and start giving advice

i can barely figure out what we should be doing and how and every week things change

and anything i do find conviction on is rarely generalizable

but you all got advice for me

My favorite genre of AI expert is the guy who confidently explains why AI will never be able to do something, watches it do exactly that six months later, and then explains why it doesn’t actually count.

Must be exhausting being wrong professionally.

[Joe Doliner @jdoliner]

After the backlash to his slides telling people to die of cancer Tao went back to double down and clarify that he does indeed think it's reasonable to ask people to die of cancer rather than take an AI cure.

He also managed to concoct the egocentric idea that there's going to be a lean certificate involved with this cancer cure and we'll need to a mathematician to check that in addition to the doctors checking the actual medicine.

He's lost his mind.

it’s clear we need to retire the term vibe coding because the models now produce better architecture & way more coherent code than an average software engineer.

perhaps even better than top software engineers too because unlike a human, ai has a much much larger context window.

this ain’t vibe coding at all. it’s precision engineering.

Technical moats are mostly over at this point. If you’re building something that is meant to be durable, the only moats now are:

• Proprietary data
• Network effects
• A physical component

We’re at a weird spot in our civilization. It’s somehow simultaneously more and less competent.

The god computer can cure cancer but the nurse doesn’t speak English. The flock camera can find a missing child in 5 minutes but you get robbed by a guy with 30 priors.

[Pedro Domingos @pmddomingos]

That didn’t take long: the model swallows the harness.

Do you guys realize how weird of a world we're moving into?

append-only software. layers on top of layers of somewhat broken stuff, agents just generating temporary fixes as they go to get things done.

if you haven't read "a deepness in the sky" i'm begging you.
