@drmaxlwilson @acm_chi There's definitely a scale issue. But conferences like TwitchCon/PAX/GDC are even more massive and do it well. Also, would be reasonable to only offer partial hybrid, say on main tracks. There's challenges, but it's doable with the right folks on board!

@drmaxlwilson @acm_chi This is a really thorough post - thanks! I agree that balancing the experience for roomers and zoomers is key. I think we need to lean into this more rather than say some early experiments were pricey and challenging. If any conference can do it well it *should* be CHI :]

Significant on the ground AV crew is essential, but it feels like the tech platforms chosen were a miss, and there's not enough training or moderation support. Seems like pre-production coordination needs streamlining. DiGRA & TwitchCon both do it right!
