🚀We are excited to Introduce the Location Protocol with @AstralProtocol. It provides the first step towards the spatial standards needed for interoperable and verifiable location information on the decentralized web! 🔥🔥

Finish with a reproducible reference connecting data ingestion → payload construction → attestation creation.
The Location Protocol isn't just coordinates. it's a framework for building trust into location data itself.

using Deno + Jupyter notebooks, we walk through wiring the SDK and creating location attestations from real data.

Covers Web3 essentials so you can use the SDK effectively.
Two workflows for integrating verifiable location:
1. Data ingestion pipelines extracting geospatial data from APIs
2. User interfaces capturing drawn geometries from interactive maps

The blockchain might be more useful that it was intended to be.
And it’s all going to be built on @eigencloud using @LayeronETH’s WAVs infrastructure.
bitcoin was intended to be a decentralized ledger
ethereum expanded it to be able to accomodate decentralized apps which changed everything
but now, with the rise of AI and deepfakes, it can also be used to verify which events are real and fake
I’m sure you’re like “MAX, we can just check social media and confirm if an event happened or not”
but with the rise of deep fake AI images and videos, it’s only time before people can differentiate between what is real and what isn’t
the blockchain can now be used to prove whether events have taken place and it’s not just another deep fake
That’s one of the reasons why what @AstralProtocol is building is gonna take off
In my opinion, this application has two(2) utilities. It can;
verify events that have taken place in the real world.
help devs build map-based or location-aware apps on top of Astral without worrying about fakes.
this is still my first take on Astral but I’m looking forward to explore what they are building in the long run.
I’ve also just talked to the team and they had a couple of things to say on the mechanism;
“Verifying events that have taken place in the real world is straightforward as users can attest to an event, but proving that the event to place at XY location is the hard part.”
they’re currently working to improve this by building location proof recipes to help prove to EAS that the action did take place at XY location.

We’ve been heads-down building out tools for the decentralized geospatial web — and just published a new post that gives a clearer picture of where things stand.
It walks through some of the core components how they fit together, and what’s coming next.
