@SkripZack@jasonwhitlock Eudaimonia or hedonia, we must choose between those 2 concepts of happiness. the FF trusted us to realize that hedonia (maximizing pleasure and avoiding pain/discomfort) is quite unfulfilling. it seemed obvious that pursuing happiness meant pursuing MORAL VIRTUE (for your SOUL)
@feelsdesperate world is full of intelligent fools. Not just a lack practical wisdom, but def that! But no concept of virtue & sin. No God above them. Pure hedonism, stuck on that treadmill. Chasing money, power, status, hurrying thru life in a fog of pleasure & numbness. Full of righteousness!
@JonesOnTheNBA Imo it really just gives the owners a leg to stand on when everyone pressures them to pay huge tax money. Sure competitive balance will come of it, but the penalties make it a “we” problem, which is big. Curious if/when stars start to take less after their first 300mil contract.
@feelsdesperate I think empathy is quite useful. Our imagination is key to being human. I think it’s more that these fools aren’t actually empathetic. They have a lot of compassion & sympathy (pity, really). Empathy requires understanding. They don’t understand themselves, let alone others.
@purplcabbage can see them struggling to understand everything…themselves, humanity, the world. They know they’re “good” but have no reason to give others that benefit of doubt. Righteousness feels so good! So smart yet so unwise. Can’t find truth, just lost in the fog without love & wisdom.
