Why Social

In January 2026, Vitalik said he was going back to decentralized social.

If we want a better society, we need better tools for mass communication.

That line stayed with me.

Web3 can build a lot of things: finance, assets, AI, infrastructure. I chose the path that looks slowest, and is easiest to underestimate.

The next internet is missing more than a better financial layer. It needs a better social layer.

Wizard kept showing up in the group with one line:

“I’m here. I’m with you.”

He was also clear — he wasn’t the savior. One person can’t carry moderation, content, market-making, and morale. What held was the people who didn’t leave after three 80% wipes. Even the Binance listing was something the community dragged into existence.

One line from the piece still hits two years later: behind great results often lies profound suffering.
