Important to note! Stripe is building something like this for the entire internets, it's called Link and it lets you save and re-use your payment information across the entire Stripe network: https://t.co/Lxh71Yixpr
Also pip pip for Shopify. I found out about this place from a local restaurant that serves it then thought “Eh, I’m not going to create an account somewhere just for coffee I’ll probably order once every few months” but they had Shopify Pay and so no data entry to send them $.
📣 attention internet: it's wildly suboptimal to build your own checkout.
in 2022, 65,000 businesses upgraded to @stripe's new fancy optimized payment UIs and saw a, on avg, 7% increase in revenue!

Frontier is buying more carbon removal!
We’ve whittled 150+ applications down to seven companies burying, injecting, and mineralizing CO₂ from the air and ocean.
@stripe and @shopify are committing $11M and will be the first customers for five of them.

Last year, a group of geeks convened on Discord in response to a Twitter thread about California’s woes with the vaccine rollout. They very quickly found themselves running a critical piece of national public health infrastructure.
Here is our story:

this is part of Stripe's scalability secret sauce: we routinely load test to much higher levels than we expect to see from users, which lets us identify problems before our user traffic is at risk.
🏋️♀️We design for resiliency and stress test our systems.
We ran 35 API-wide load tests (up to 3x weekly) plus chaos tests to validate at scale. These add significant synthetic traffic to the API — 35k requests per second this year — making the actual >20,000 BFCM peak seamless.
Black Friday/Cyber Monday [BFCM] is a big deal for our users. So it’s a big deal for @stripe too.
We handled billions of $s in sales each day of BFCM. A 5 minute downtime = tens of millions in lost revenue for our users.
Here's how we achieved >99.9999% uptime. 👇
Other context: the Black Friday and Cyber Monday peaks of years past are now just regular Fridays and Mondays (go internet!).
Lesson: If you build for 3-5x of this year's expected capacity peak, you'll be naturally better prepared for next year's day in and day out growth needs.
Stripe has upstreamed our internal changes to Rubyfmt: https://t.co/y1XbMmB5PN. I haven't cut a release yet but please clone and check out the branch down and try it out. This is the first daily drivable build of Rubyfmt.
Don’t overpay for basic legal templates. @atlas now comes with 15+ templates for hiring, selling, and fundraising.
There’s even a button to “Request a template” and we’ll draft it with top startup law firms for you (and the internet).

Almost 1% of the world's humans live in Thailand! We're very optimistic about the Thai digital economy and look forward to supporting the burgeoning community of local entrepreneurs with global ambition.
100% of Stripe's Ruby codebase, which is the largest single Ruby codebase in the world, is now autoformatted with Rubyfmt. We'll be upstreaming the changes we made soon. I'm very excited.
