These facts impact on the communication that anyone would want to put across to any community in Uganda. There is, therefore, need to consider the languages that speak to the hearts of the people that you want to communicate to.

Why we need translation in a multilingual country like Uganda?

Uganda is a country with over 40 languages, and English and Swahili are the official languages. The question is, “how many Ugandans understand English and Swahili as a language that speaks to their hearts?

Did you know that the majority of Ugandans learn and acquire English from school? We know that a good number of Ugandans go to school, but the majority stop at secondary school level; only a few make it through to the tertiary level or other higher education institutions.

This means that the exposure to English and Swahili in Uganda is quite minimal. It also means that if people are spoken to in these languages, few of them would receive the message to their hearts.
