@vfsglobalcare Hi. I am applying for Austrian Schengen visas with my wife. The portal shows appointments at VFS Pune for 1 applicant but no availability at all when I select 2 applicants. Should we book 2 individual appointments or is there a way to accommodate a family booking?
Traffic in Pune
Pune now is 350 square kilometres.
It has 2500 kilometres of road length.
Over 7% of Pune’s surface area is roads.
It should get doubled.
PMPML has 2000 + buses.
40% of Pune’s bus capacities run empty.
The Metro length is 32 kilometres.
The Metro length is expected to double this year, then double again & double again.
80% of metro capacities run empty.
Punes population is estimated to be 1 crore & expected to Double too.
Pune has 72 lakh personal vehicles.
90% of Pune’s traffic uses 285 kilometres of Roads in Pune.
This is data from the IAS / IPS bunch.
They keep delivering this information in their presentations again and again. They keep insisting Pune needs to double its infrastructure. Roads Double, Metro Double, Building Construction Double, Housing triple.
You get the drift…
Some of the glaring contradictions presented in the data is as follows.
They state that 80 to 85% of Pune’s traffic uses only 285 kilometres of Road length in Pune. So, if 85% of Pune’s traffic load exists on barely 11% of Pune’s roads. How does it explain the need to justify doubling Pune’s road and flyover infrastructure. They do not and when they are confronted with this glaring discrepancy a IPS officer says he is not responsible for this data but PMC is. An IAS officer says the IPS is & both say the PMPML is and so on and on.
Double Roads / Buildings / Metro = Double corruption, Double concrete, Double pollution, Double traffic, Double garbage.
But, they won’t tell you that, what they will tell you is, Pune has a comprehensive mobility plan, Public transportation should be encouraged and it should be used by 50% of the population. Metro usership is only 20% and has 80% spare capacity and PMPML usership has 40% or more spare capacity. PMPML offsets only 11% of the current demand for Public transport. This while we have 2000 buses according to the information provided to them by PMPML. Another IAS run enterprise.
Now if 85% of the traffic is on 285 kilometres of road, All it would need to ensure a bus every few minutes on 285 kilometres of road length is 285 buses.
Even if you double the number for accommodating traffic both ways it is still 570 buses. To avoid traffic people can then be encouraged to use state of the art bus transportation.
Why isn’t the route of public transportation optimized and organized to ensure app based route predictability, ticketing and seat availability on the roads which experience maximum traffic.
When faced with this question,
A IPS officer again tried to fence with me in public by saying that what PMPML does is managed by a separate IAS officer on the board of PMPML.
The PMPML website reveals that Shrimati Archana Gaikwad RTO Pune also sits on their board as a RTO representative which I believe functions in close association with the Traffic Police headed by a IPS officer Shri Manoj Patil, but I am supposed to believe, they can’t plan routes together ?
And then, IPS - IAS people tell us that during Diwali, from 42 lakh vehicles on Pune’s roads it came down to 32 lakh vehicles because of which we had no traffic congestion.
How did they arrive at this number ?
There are no answers.,
The truth is, 30 million daily vehicle trips in Pune, assuming average trip length of 12 km and congested speed of 20 kmph, equates to about 750,000 vehicles on roads simultaneously across the network.
But, while presenting to us the numbers presented are 5X what they actually are.
And these IPS IAS worthies are responsible for Pune’s traffic.
Pune is supposed to believe these lies.
So many contradictions presented by them to us and the people of Pune have to live with broken down traffic infrastructure and gerrymandered data. That isn’t the point, the more important point is that these officers who claim to know what they talk about are actually peddling fake narratives.
“Lies are Convenient”
This is why,
Pune will suffer traffic.

@bookmyshow@shudhdesicomic Your customer care exec says that they "proactively" shared an SMS.
1. There is not a single SMS from your team
2. For a company that spams our feed with emails, why didn't you send an email?
@bookmyshow - We booked a standup comedy gig by @shudhdesicomic Ravi Gupta in Pune on 7 June. The initial confirmation clearly says 8PM and we have not received a single SMS or mail from BMS that the time was preponed to 6PM. We need this to be resolved ASAP!

Booked for Kaathal movie in Pune at @INOXMovies Amanora Mall Hadapsar via @bookmyshow. Screen 4, excited for the movie but was received by wet seats, stinking cinema hall & no AC. Even the support staff were unable to provide good seats that weren't stinking. No help from BMS too
