Hey everyone! My nameโs Demi and Iโm a recent graduate from FIU with my B.S in Marine Biology.
Iโm interested in coral, algae, genetics, microplastics, and conservation. Thatsโs just a general gist of what I like but honestly if itโs in the water consider me a big fan haha
iโm more than willing to pay for shipping and weโve got our own filters already purchased! i really donโt have many other feasible options with the closeness of my field date. any advice?
hey #edna folks!
i head to the field on july 8 and and my collaborator who was going to lend me their Smith-Root eDNA Sampler backpack just let me know they can no longer lend it to me. Is there any chance anyone out there is kind enough and willing to let me borrow theirs? โกฬ

If youโre at SICB, check out Demi Carballosaโs very cool urchin poster (from the research we collaborated on during the 2022 FHL REU program) today!
Iโm very excited to present my poster at #SICB2023 on urchins and the symbiotic relationship between kelp and bryozoans!
Poster session: Jan 6 @ 3:30pm in the JW Grand Ballroom. Stop by and you just might get a sticky hand (cause urchins stick!)
Iโm oFISHally done with the B.S. ๐๐ค

Thank you to everybody who has supported me along the way with advice and encouragement!
@Curly_Biologist@mustymussel it NEEDS to be the absolute norm to have diversity in science. thank you for sharing your experience amani, our voices need to be heard!
Being a Black women in STEM and especially in marine science means emotionally preparing yourself for being the only one in the room. I recently had an experience that I want to discuss and hope youโll read aboutโฌ๏ธ
Hi, I'm Melanie! I'm a senior at @CofC. I'm into fish morphology/biomechanics/physiology and marine paleobiology/paleozoology. I plan to write my Bachelor's Essay on comparative biomechanics of moray skin! Here are some pictures from my FHL REU program this summer! #latinainstem
Finally home from my REU at @MarineBiol_FHL! I am thankful for the time I spent in such a magical place, surrounded by dedicated researchers, doing research I love. This experience truly changed the trajectory of my life & Iโm forever grateful! FHL for life!
Hey yโall! Iโm Hana and Iโm a senior undergrad at Saint Maryโs College. Iโm interested in animal behavior and functional morphology in marine organisms! I plan on attending grad school in the future so follow along to see my journey!
Last but certainly not least, @demiswims is presenting her summer research! She looked at classifying the relationship between an encrusting byrozoan and kelp by looking at oyster feeding preference
(Also this gets the award for favorite question slide) #FHLREU
