i deleted instagram about 5 years ago, so i had almost forgotten what it feels like to have it in your life
watching people around me use it now feels strange
you end up checking the daily lives of people you haven’t seen in ten years, people you probably wouldn’t even stop to talk to if you crossed them on the street.
random people from your past become permanent background characters in your mind.
then add the fact that a huge part of instagram is effectively a dating product
if you’re already in a long-term relationship, keeping that constant stream of attention, comparison and other people’s lives in your head has destroyed countless couples
after being off it for years, the whole thing looks much more extreme from the outside.
A rule that will lower your anxiety:
Don't replay conversations you can't change, and don't pre-live ones that haven't happened. Focus on the next right action. Most stress comes from living everywhere except the present.
If you want a life that feels like yours, you have to get in touch with your inner madness. Become a rebel. Unapologetically you. Take the path nobody dares to walk. Read 700 page philosophy books. Work for a month straight. Build something from nothing. Then disappear for a week. Don't be rational. Don't be logical Don't be normal ever. Be rare. Be obsessive. Be exactly who you are. This one mindset shift can absolutely change everything.
I'm not married but my mom once told me that you can marry the right person and still feel stuck. You can have a stable, faithful partner and still feel unfulfilled if you built your whole identity around being someone’s wife instead of being your own person first.
Marriage benefits from a strong individual, it doesn’t create one. If you don’t know who you are, what you want, and how to stand on your own, marriage can quietly turn into a place where you shrink instead of grow. So don’t chase marriage like it’s the goal. Chase a life that already feels full so if you choose to marry, it adds to you, not becomes you.
