We’ve been without City Power for 18 hours now and I can’t get my car out because the gate battery has expired. I’m counting the 187 DAYS to kick out the corrupt ANC and get Helen Zille to fix Joburg!
Today, we celebrate the brave rangers at Ol Pejeta Conservancy who work tirelessly—often risking their lives—to protect our wildlife.

These fish species, found in the rivers and springs of Chinko Conservation Area in CAR, represent the rich biodiversity of the ecosystem. While the Chinko waterways remain largely ecologically intact, upstream mining activities could result in changes to watercourses, damage to riverbanks and the release of sediment and chemicals into the water. Conserving the biodiversity represented by these freshwater fish will require the adoption of more sustainable approaches to resource management.

🇿🇦 69-year-old Kallie Odendaal was shot and killed while changing a flat tyre in Johannesburg, just metres from a police station.
On the phone with his wife Moira, he reportedly begged his attackers to leave him alone—before she heard the gunshot.
He managed to drive to a nearby petrol station but later died in hospital the same day.
The attack happened in broad daylight. Only his phone was taken.

Across Africa, lions have lost up to 90% of their historic range. As human populations expand and habitats shrink, lions increasingly move beyond protected areas in search of food, bringing them into direct conflict with people and their livestock. https://t.co/bL4ZbAFmZR

SAPS has launched an intensive manhunt after two Crime Intelligence officers were ambushed and shot in Mount Edgecombe, Durban, this afternoon.
One officer, who was driving the state vehicle, died at the scene after sustaining fatal gunshot wounds.
The second officer was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital, where urgent medical treatment is underway.
Acting National Commissioner Lt Gen Puleng Dimpane said maximum resources have been mobilised to track down the suspects, with specialised units including Crime Intelligence operatives, detectives, organised crime investigators and tactical police teams working around the clock.
Dimpane strongly condemned the brazen attack, describing it as an assault on the authority of the state and on officers who risk their lives daily in the fight against crime.
She vowed that no stone would be left unturned until those responsible are arrested and brought to justice.
SAPS has also deployed Employee Health and Wellness experts, including psychologists and chaplains, to support the family of the slain officer as well as affected colleagues.
Police extended
condolences to the fallen member’s loved ones and wished the injured officer a full recovery.
UPDATE | The deceased police officer is a recently-promoted captain.
His partner, a sergeant, is critically wounded.
Based on witness accounts, a white Isuzu bakkie chased the police officers’ Toyota Hilux down Flanders Drive for a kilometre or two, while shooting.
Several gunmen were seated at the back of the Isuzu.
When the Toyota came to rest, some of the attackers allegedly jumped out and shot directly into the windscreen.
Employees at nearby businesses, who saw the ambush, told me the criminals removed a large bag from the back of the Hilux before fleeing.
The Isuzu was later dumped and set alight in KwaMashu.
The SAPS has described the incident as an attack on the authority of the State.
Maximum resources have been deployed to track down the killers.
