Many thanks to Edinburgh TUC for organising tonight’s #justice4grenfell event. It was a privilege to speak on behalf of @FBUScotland. A very emotional event hearing from speakers who lost loved ones. Proud of the @fbunational campaign and the continued support we give 💚
Sexual harassment towards women is endemic.
As #STUCWomen24 begins, our new report 'Still Silent' shows little improvement has been made from employers in rooting out abuse from the workplace.

Our annual St Andrew's Day Anti-Racism and Anti-Fascism march in Glasgow celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, commemorating Scotland's enduring commitment to inclusivity and opposition to far-right ideologies. All welcome

The amalgamation of the former 8 fire brigades to the single SFRS has seen year on year cuts and fragmentation. Centralising control has taken away local democratic accountability compared to the previous Fire Boards. We were told amalgamation would stop the cuts - how wrong!!
@AamerAnwar@AntiRacismDay@ScottishTUC@STUC_BWC@PhilTaylorGlsgw Sending you love and solidarity, brother. Your evidence stands as a powerful testament to the years of unwavering dedication you’ve given to those who have no voice—even at great personal cost. That was clearly a challenging session, please take care of yourself ❤️
NEW: The Assistant Chief Fire Officer Adam Matthews has resigned with immediate effect from today.
Once again, alleged perpetrators are allowed a dignified exit.
Important campaigning and organising by the @FBUNWC and good to see a joint approach with @fire_scot. Changing the culture in the fire service must include joint efforts by both employer and trade union. No one body is immune.
STUC #BlackHistoryMonth Lecture 2024
📅 Friday, 27 September
⏰ 6PM - 7PM
📍 STUC, 8 Landressy St, Glasgow
Join us to hear from the founding members of the Scottish Asian Action Committee and explore why antiracist campaigning is still a trade union priority
All welcome!
This is crucial campaigning by the @FBUNWC. Many women firefighters will worryingly have a story to tell about their experiences. It’s finally being documented for all to see. No more brushing it under the carpet! Well done Robyn 👏👏👏
"We need to call it out. Sexual harassment is a health and safety issue. It is a trade union issue."
Everyone should be able to go to work without fear of harassment.
Robyn Richardson @FBUNWC secretary received a standing ovation for her powerful speech at @The_TUC Congress
We will remain on our land and we will rise again. Addressing the @The_TUC 2024 congress this morning, following a historic vote on a motion in support of Palestinian rights. Link to full speech

Proud to stand with the @FBUScotland banner in total solidarity at the @SUTRScotland demo today against those who try to divide us. Firefighters have been at the forefront of combating fascism. #NaePasaran
Deregulation. Profit before people. Greed over safety and ideological governments who place capitalism at its’ core. All causes of this horrendous disaster. I sincerely hope all those affected truly get justice and that this report is a turning point 💚 #Justice4Grenfell
The final report of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry has now been published. On this day, we remember the 72 lives lost.
This report demonstrates beyond doubt that an agenda of deregulation cost lives.
We share the grief and anger of the bereaved, survivors and residents.
🔥"Less firefighters means a greater risk to the public and to the firefighters we represent"🔥
FBU Scotland Regional Chair, Gus Sproul, speaking to Go Radio earlier today 🔥
Once again, a high rise block with flammable cladding has been destroyed by fire. Hundreds of thousands of people live in buildings like it.
The day after, @MattWrack visited the scene in Dagenham. The FBU will continue to fight for justice and action on the building safety crisis.
Nablus fire department would have attended these fires yet the Israeli authorities are deliberately holding back a fire appliance, from Scotland, full of emergency equipment organised by @FBUScotland. Nablus firefighters are in dire need of this vital humanitarian aid.
Yet another Israeli settler rampage last night in the village of Jitt near Nablus, murdering a Palestinian and setting fire to homes and cars. Netanyahu’s condemnation together with international calls for an investigation and accountability by the Israeli occupation forces are ludicrous. This is state-sponsored terrorism.
