Our grade 5/6 student designed Indigenous garden is coming to life! Thanks to Lafarge for their generous donation and delivery of stones and to Springhill Winter Park & Roofco for moving them. @magLRSD#indigenousgarden#reconciliation#nativeprairie
The rink @magLRSD is ready to go for those looking to get out skating in the area. Students at MAG and @hastingsLRSD will all be using it for the next month or so for PE. The Lines, benches and lights will be added shortly. @GreenActionCtr
As a parent…
My child has always had teachers who share with us. Her teacher last year had a DAILY blog showing exactly what they were doing. If you’re a parent who doesn’t know what’s going on in your child’s classroom I have some breaking news…the teacher isn’t the problem!
I’ve helped librarians handle attempted book bans for 20 years. Here’s why it’s getting worse. https://t.co/40AwHbQ7SG
“Book ban movements are shutting down important conversation, rather than encouraging diversity of thought and exposing kids to new lived experiences”
Kids can do awesome things. This was all done by 7-9 year olds. Research, design, collaboration, digital citizenship and communication were all essential during this project.
I was often asked why in the world I would teach grade 7/8 when I was still a classroom teacher. The answer was always that they are still kids at heart, but are also capable of amazing things. More proof today. My teacher heart is full.
So proud of our grade 7/8 students @magLRSD. They researched and planned an assembly and workshops for the whole school for Indigenous People’s Day. They showed leadership, thoughtfulness and respect through their learning and actions.
Yesterday, because of the help of eleven schools in the Louis Riel School Division, we received a donation of 10,000 hygiene items!
Thank you for helping fill this urgent need for members of the community. Your donation will make a HUGE difference 😊
