“In a service short on time and short on resource, there is no excuse for being short on kindness and politeness. We are in control of how we treat each other. Our behaviours determine the success of our working relationships, with both colleagues and patients.”

Dear #orthotwitter
Does anyone use the Doximity app? Is it as good as it sounds for your practice? It’s not available where I work but I’m looking into whether it could work here.

[1/11] I believe that surgeons should show mistakes as well as the good stuff. I don’t show that as often for the bread & butter cases because errors there not as common, but here is one where I messed up and how I fixed it. No distal extension in this fracture, pure nail case.
Calcium channel blockers eg amplodipine, can cause a drop in blood pressure and make you feel dizzy. Try to avoid holding your breath while exercising.
ACE inhibitors eg telmisartan, and blood thinners eg aspirin don’t tend to affect exercise.

Is is safe to exercise while on blood pressure meds?
If you take beta blockers (like propranolol for example) you may not get the usual increase in heart rate when you exercise. A good way to monitor the exercise intensity is to do the talk test (sing, talk or can’t talk).
Do Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory or COX-2 Inhibitor Drugs Increase the Nonunion or Delayed Union Rates After Fracture Surgery?

Intraoperatively the head fragment was incarcerated by the tendon (EDL) - irreducible without cutting the tendon. Since we wanted to optimise rehab we fixed the base fracture at the same time.
Nice to see him at 6 weeks walking out of the boot and pain free.

This young man had an unusual injury while riding and fractured both head and base of the 5th metatarsal of his foot.
At first glance the head fragment didn’t look bad - but a closer look shows that it was completely displaced.
@TomGardnerFool That 82% drop for 2 years would be hard. If this was a lot like SBUX stock, were business fundamentals strong and market just being irrational?
