attuned to reality

(state law encourages me to define this as a personal, rather than professional account.)

I shall write more soon, but I am happy to say that my new course, which is a comprehensive replacement of the old one, is done and now released to the world

it is called Applied Presence: Foundations

may the world like and benefit from it

I find LLMs very helpful for scientific writing. I do the legwork of planning out what to say, track down citations, sketch out the flow, feed all of this to the LLM to generate a draft, and the output is so awful it motivates me to write it out the right way in disgust

Trump: We can't take care of daycare. We're a big country. We're fighting wars. It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these things.

[Derek Van Ittersum @derekvan]

@ascetic_shadow @frideswyth This might be useful in that direction. https://t.co/VSg4xcnswx

[Derek Van Ittersum @derekvan]

@tasshinfogleman What’s complicated about Drafts? Sure it can do many things, but if you want it to do one thing, it can be very simple.

[Stephen Miller @StephenM]

If young men don’t want to be drafted to fight in Kamala’s and Cheney’s 3rd World War they better get out and vote for Trump.

[JD Vance @JDVance]

Twenty years ago we invaded Iraq. The war killed many innocent Iraqis and Americans. It destroyed the oldest Christian populations in the world. It cost over $1 trillion, and turned Iraq into a satellite of Iran. It was an unforced disaster, and I pray that we learn its lessons.

[Delicious Tacos @Delicious_Tacos]

I’m the CEO of a hot dog company. I’ve worked on hot dogs for 10 years. And *I* wasn’t prepared for what I’ve just seen. Your life is about to change.

So what can you do?

Buy as many hot dogs as you can. Buy stock in hot dog companies.

@anielsen108 Catcher in the Rye?

[Surrealistship @SurrealistShip]

Its telling on the algo that my rw friends feeds show them leftists celebrating, and my lw friends feeds are showing liberals denouncing it.

The bubbles will keep causing death and engagement.

I co-authored a post with @andrew0blevins, Choices in Feeling. The "choices" part is about different ways that we can relate to emotional reactivity. The post covers self-regulation (the mainstream approach) and Liberating Emotion (an unconventional approach) the contemporary Vajrayana practice that we teach in Evolving Ground.

eG's upcoming seven-week course “Liberating Emotions” will cover this topic in much greater depth, with scaffolding methods, guided practices, and interactive support. It begins on Tuesday, September 30, 7:00 to 8:30pm ET.

Post and course details follow:

@anielsen108 Was on my mind during our call today. First thing I thought of.

@anielsen108 How does someone in that mode see the branching paths ahead? Not, I imagine, like Sylvia Plath. https://t.co/C0hJxYWisp

Periodic reminder, I have a coaching practice. I'm very good at it. I can help you unwind patterns, develop a meditation practice that feels like art, and gently but ruthlessly question the foundations of your unhappiness.

If we've talked & it helped you, please RT (or say how).

@almostheir To use AT language, I think the parents here are “endgaining” by thinking they can skip process. As if the result can be aimed at directly without the process. I am still working to interrupt this habit in myself 🤪

[Derek Van Ittersum @derekvan]

@Meaningness @dorzacht @_awbery_ is dragging me into using Notion. I guess you’ve been spared!

[Derek Van Ittersum @derekvan]

@MaxSoweski relevant for recent conversations with bonus reference to mobility

[das überkristall @crystalxduan]

I’m probably the most fixed avoidant you’ll meet in a while lol

And you don’t “fix it.” You choose to embody its opposite.

You commit to a higher purpose than just your own safety. You surrender to outcomes. You become what’s holy - being humble and doing what’s loving anyway

[Derek Van Ittersum @derekvan]

@anielsen108 What about programs of social destruction? If we can identify them and offer alternatives, seems useful to me.
