Mike Marlar Racing on his win at Smoky Mountain Speedway with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series:
"Man, since the new track configuration I've really struggled here. And to finish in front of Jimmy and Dale, they're two of the best in the whole sport ever, you know what I mean? So to be able to beat them, finish ahead of them, beat them is kind of a bad word. I don't know if I beat them. I got in front of them. But anyway, to win the race, get out front, lead all the laps.
I got to give a special thank you to Mark Richards. For the last month the racing's been so fun. We've been good everywhere we've been. If it wasn't for him I definitely would not be standing here. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't win. And he got me winning. So I really appreciate you Mark more than you know. We go way back. And I always do good when he helps me. And it was a lot of fun."
On why racing is so good in East Tennessee, "I just think competition breeds competition. We had the GOAT with Scott Bloomquist all them years. When I was a 20 something year old guy wanting to be a bad boy in late model racing in Tennessee you had Jimmy, you had Scott, you had Ronnie Johnson, you had Skip Arp. You had Dale is basically in Tennessee and he runs at these tracks all the time. So I just think competition breeds competition. And Billy Ogle was so hard to beat. And Scott Sexton. Just the local talent. Not many places in the country when you see the old Hav-A-Tampa series or something like that come and the locals would win. Illinois is a place that does. Tennessee is a place that does it. And not a lot of places. So I think that's what made me have to get good or get out.
I got to thank like I said Mark Richards, Rocket Chassis, Fox Shocks, Mesilla Valley Transportation. Langendfelder Mechanical. Their family's went through a lot this summer and we appreciate their support. Can-Am Automotive. My longtime car owner Ronnie Delk. He made the call to get us this car and it was a pretty bold move to do what he did. And it's winning and doing good. So it's heading in the right direction. Performance Bodies helps us a lot. Can-Am, my buddy Craig Lindsay at Can-Am, VP Racing Fuels, Fox Shocks like I said. A special friend of mine Thomas Hunzicker, I've known him quite a long time now out of Oregon. This was technically going to be his car and he let us get it and race it. He sure got me a good one. So a lot of people. Got to thank Jerry and Josh. I've been asking a lot out of them lately. We've been working outside of racing on some stuff. They didn't even unload the race car for the first time this week until today. So it's been really putting them guys through a lot and them boys have always stuck with me. My wife Stacy. Ally, Josh's wife, for putting up with all of it, and got to give a big thanks to Jack Cornett, our engine builder. On that kind of surface such a smooth motor you've got to have. Last but not least we've got to think about Capital Signs, Lee Havlik, always keeps the 157 looking sharp. He's been with me quite awhile now. Every time you see this car it looks pretty and you've got to thank Lee for that."
