A few communication lessons for the Government, BJP and everyone in public life:

1. India’s biggest communication problem is TV news and MSM.

At least, that’s how a large section of people now sees it. They believe it has destroyed trust and poisoned public conversation.

You may not realise it now, but India’s biggest enemy is Indian TV news. It has now become your enemy too.

The more you use it, the more damage it is likely to cause.

After graduating from the @IIMC_India , my first job was at @IndiaToday because, like every journalism student then, I wanted to become like the great journalists I saw there.

Today, if a child wants to become a journalist, can any parent or teacher name three TV journalists as role models? Why not?

An aspiring cricketer has Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli or Yashasvi Jaiswal. Who does an aspiring TV journalist have?

In fact, many young people are told, “become anything, but don’t become a TV journalist”.

2. If you don’t want another protest that you neither understand nor know how to handle, rethink TV news.

Right now, it’s working against you, not for you.

Why should hardworking salaried reporters get all the hate for decisions taken by editors and owners?

Next time there’s a protest, ask the owners to stand in front. That alone could transform the TV news business model.

Seriously, why are the owners in hiding? Shouldn’t they also be accountable for damaging India’s socio-political fabric?

3. Don’t make the mistake of believing this happened because of Instagram.

And don’t make the bigger mistake of thinking Instagram can be fixed to defeat the Gen Z narrative.

It will backfire.

No matter what you do, you can’t manufacture authenticity.

4. Everyone even remotely in power should switch to silent mode for a while.

Ask the shouting spokespersons and television regulars to disappear for a while.

On the environment, send environmental experts. On the economy, send economists. On education, send educationists. On healthcare, send doctors and public health experts.

Stop relying on political performers who turn every debate, whether it’s about pollution, jobs, education or healthcare, into communal or factional politics.

Replace them with genuine subject experts.

5. We don’t want India to become Western.

But we must make India modern.

Stop celebrating regressive ideas.

Talk more about science, philosophy, art, poetry, creativity, innovation and the dignity of every citizen.

6. Fix our crumbling cities.

Clean our air.

7. Listen more. Let your work speak.

I hope this moment becomes an opportunity to rethink how we communicate with a new generation.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा दिल्ली NCR में डीजल कार नहीं चलने देंगे। तो पेट्रोल कार खरीद लो। पेट्रोल मंत्री ने पेट्रोल का अधिकार सड़क मंत्री को दे दिया है जो असल में गन्ना मंत्री है। दोनों ने कहा शुद्ध पेट्रोल नहीं देंगे। 20% मिलावट वाला ही देंगे। तो E20 पेट्रोल कार खरीद ली। मिलावट इतनी है कि अब फ्यूल पंप का इश्यू हो गया। सब कह रहे हैं नई इलेक्ट्रिक कार ले लो। हाउसिंग सोसाइटी ने कहा चार्जिंग सिस्टम नहीं लगेगा, उससे आग लग जाती है। कह रहे हैं कहीं और नया घर ले लो। इधर पेट्रोल वाली गाड़ी कहीं भी खड़ी हो जा रही। फिर टो कर के सर्विस सेंटर में खड़ी रह रही। पेट्रोल की बचत हो रही है। मोदीजी आह्वान करते उसके पहले ही गडकरी जी ने इंतजाम कर दिया। ऐसी दूरदर्शिता से ही देश चलेगा। दादा कोंडके कहे रहे आगे की सोच। काहे की तुम्हारे पीछे क्या हो रहा है देख लोगे तो तन बदन में आग लग जाएगी। सदन में ठण्डक बनी रहेगी। वहां तुम्हारे चुने गए चन्द्रवदन कोई क्रंदन नहीं करेंगे। क्रंदन तुम्हारे माथे पर लिखा है जिसे वो पढ़ चुका है। तीन आखर का ही है वो भी। तुमको नहीं अखरेगा। तुम यूज़्ड टू हो। जो लिखा गया है नहीं बदलेगा। तुम्हारा भाग्य, बाबासाहब का संविधान, और सरकार की नीतियां। सरकारें आएंगी, जाएंगी, पार्टियां बनेंगी, बिगड़ेंगी मगर ये देश रहना चाहिए। गाड़ियां आएंगी, जाएंगी, पॉलिसियां बनेंगी, बिगड़ेंगी मगर इथेनॉल रहना चाहिए। काहे कि एक बार हमने कमिटमेंट कर दी तो अपने आप की भी नहीं सुनते। जनता का फीडबैक घंटा सुनेंगे, मीटिंग की मिनिट्स लेंगे और एक सेकंड में एंटी नेशनल कह कर खारिज़ कर देंगे। सब सहन करो। अपने कर्मों का फल वहन करो। वाहन तुम्हारा गारत, बोलो जय भारत। देश के लिए इतना नहीं कर सकते। तुम पर लाख लानत।

I would've appreciated this advice a few years ago, but now I have reasons not to.

1. You've been draining the country's resources is mindless freebie schemes which is nurturing a generation of freeloaders.
2. You've been lying on fuel adulteration and denying the consumer the choice that is deserved.

What’s the cruellest fate for an infant who cannot survive on her own? To be starved to death. She cannot call for help, cannot complain, just cries in hope until there’s no energy left to cry.

Just over a year old, Divyanshi of Shivpuri (MP) weighed only 3.7 kg when she died at the district hospital two days ago. Her ideal weight at her age is 8–12 kg.

She was not brought to the hospital by her family on their own. The state authorities had flagged her case under the Dastak Abhiyan.

Doctors say her family was repeatedly urged to admit her to the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre. But her mother alleges that the in-laws blocked treatment because she was a girl: “Whenever she fell ill, they said, let her die, she is just a daughter.”

This is not an isolated case. It happens more often than most realize. With prenatal gender screenings banned, some families have now found new, horrifying ways to eliminate girl children. While most malnutrition deaths are unintended and affect both genders, deliberate neglect almost exclusively targets girls.

Govt records show over 10 lakh malnourished children in MP, including 1.36 lakh severely wasted. By comparison, the national under-5 malnutrition rate in April 2025 was 5.40%, while MP’s stood at a staggering 7.79%. Shri @DrMohanYadav51, declare this a state health emergency and act on priority. Malnutrition deaths in 2025 are unacceptable.

Horrifying. This stands in complete contradiction to what Nag Panchami truly represents. Crowds marching with #snakes held up on sticks, gripped and passed around like props. They are scared, motionless, and stripped of all dignity. This is not reverence, in any form.

On a day meant to honour and protect these sacred beings, what we are witnessing is the very opposite: a display of fear, ignorance, and cruelty. #NagPanchami was never meant to look like this.

Strict action must be taken against not just those harming snakes, but also those who dare to insult what Lord Shiva holds sacred.
