The durable part of Durable Objects means that your data persists, even when you're not using it.
Cloudflare stores your data in an SQLite database and gives you access to it through a small server. You can create a Durable Object when you need it and access it whenever you need that information again.
The cool part is its unique identifier. When you create a Durable Object for a chat room, you can use its identifier to access that specific room. Each room can have its own Durable Object (your small server + SQLite database), where its messages are stored.
In a traditional SQL database, you might use a roomId to find messages belonging to a specific chat room. With DO, you use the object identifier to access the same room object and its associated data.

SQLite is the most used database in the world, and its biggest weakness has always been the same: it runs on one machine, and if that machine dies, your data is gone. The usual fix is Litestream, but that's a Go binary you have to babysit.
So we (@platformatic) rewrote it in TypeScript.
