@GraceBurget I think it's great that through this class we were able to talk and discuss topics like this. I think it will change the way I view things I see in the media now! #rgcmtalkback21
I am glad I was able to explore new ideas through this class and talk about topics and have conversations that you only really get the opportunity to do through a class like this. #rgcmtalkback21
@K_DeLoatche_PR Something I shared in our @395 personal reflection was that by reading through the discussion posts I got to see that many people shared some of the same experiences as me or I got to learn about different experiences that others went through. #rgcmtalkback21
As this class ends and we share our final tweets, my favorite assignment we did in this class was the diversity interview with a family member. I feel I was able to talk about my family at a way deeper level with my mom and learned new things about my family. #rgcmtalkback21
In light of our last discussion post and talking about our favorite movies etc. and diversity, I like how Disney is including more diverse princesses like Moana. They have also released a new movie called Encanto with a Disney princess from Columbia. #rgcmtalkback21
I wrote my last discussion post over Avengers: Endgame because I loved the diversity in the movie. It contributed male and female roles and diverse races in the characters. I liked how in the end it has everybody come together. #rgcmtalkback21
@NicoleDL99 I unfortunately blame social media for paving the way for so many women wanting to look like Kylie Jenner. Most of what we see on social media is inaccurate, and especially from celebrities. #rgcmtalkback21
@kendallburnett_ Kendall, I think it is great you pointed out these statistics! I think it would be so much more empowering to see more women and diversity in these kinds of roles! Especially super hero's because kids really look up to those characters. #rgcmtalkback21
I feel like I was able to gain more insight from my mom on how she grew up through my Diversity Interview #2. She answered questions I would have never thought to ask her before and it helped me better understand my family. #rgcmtalkback21
@K_DeLoatche_PR Kristen, I totally agree. I still don't think we have seen enough progression with shows and their diversity in body images. I think it is a huge problem with young adults. #rgcmtalkback21
@AddieCrawfordTV Addie, it is so cool that you have a rich family history that you are able to learn about from your family. I know hearing about my family history through my interview it makes me really proud of where my family came from. #rgcmtalkback21
In my Diversity Interview #2 my mom talked about how she wished she would have asked more questions about her family heritage before her grandparents passed away. That makes me want to ask as many questions as I can now while I still have my grandparents. #rgcmtalkback21
I feel that people are more aware of what message companies are putting out there in their commercials. A lot of brands are changing their adverting tactics to be more inclusive and reach a broader audience. #rgcmtalkback21
The media and social media has paved the way for women to now speak out. I think women now more than ever feel empowered to use their voices. #rgcmtalkback21
@K_DeLoatche_PR I totally agree. The way we view and treat women in society has changed significantly. However where I see the most work to be done still is sexually objectifying women. #rgcmtalkback21
@BrennaF2022 I can relate to this too. It is hard to really picture what I might be doing in my life now if I were a different gender. What I do know is that I would have different worries than I do being a woman. #rgcmtalkback21
I have previously written a paper over the sexualization of women in sports broadcasting. I interviewed Karie Ross one of ESPN's first women sports broadcasters. She shed insight into instances she faced in her career of sexual objectification. #rgcmtalkback21
In the discussion post for the week it asks us about the "IT" girl in todays media. I think today The Kardashian's can be seen as the "IT" girls. For years now their brands they have released and their beauty have made them so popularized. #rgcmtalkback21
@K_DeLoatche_PR I totally agree! In our discussion post some things that I reflected upon when describing what I think my life would be like if I were a boy would be the stereotypical struggles I would feel to make enough money to support a family. #rgcmtalkback21
@AddieCrawfordTV I truly believe this has paved the way for the high rates of depression and anxiety we see nowadays in young adults. There is a beauty standard that been created through social media. #rgcmtalkback21
