Full-text search indexes are now available in Beta on Databricks Runtime 18.2.
Create a search index with a single SQL statement to accelerate substring and keyword queries, with no query hints or application changes required.
Teams are already seeing 100x+ faster substring search queries against petabyte-scale tables.

“Lakewatch represents a massive acceleration of your SOC team. We’ve taken something like a threat assessment that might have taken a week, and Lakewatch can do it in a few minutes.”
Michael Andersen, Technical Lead at Databricks, demos Lakewatch, the agentic security lakehouse.
Introducing Lakehouse//RT, a real-time data warehouse that delivers millisecond responses at massive scale without data movement.
Support real-time workloads while using the same open formats, governance, and data architecture already powering your analytics and AI. https://t.co/STdjG24IKs
Really excited to open source a new project: Omnigent, a meta-harness for AI agents.
It lets you build multi-agent coding and custom agents, sitting above Claude Code, Codex, Pi, and agent SDKs to let you compose them. It also adds live collaboration and rich control policies.
Personal update: I've joined Anthropic. I think the next few years at the frontier of LLMs will be especially formative. I am very excited to join the team here and get back to R&D. I remain deeply passionate about education and plan to resume my work on it in time.
Cool work from the Databricks Model Serving team and Superhuman, to scale their custom LLM serving to 200K QPS with sub-second P99 latency! Here's how our teams got a +60% throughput gain vs the previous engine to serve over 40 million daily users. https://t.co/csjPLQzQ7C
