@miriam_riviera Were they targeted for building compliance inspection due to their opposition to the current bike lane configuration? Because I heard the cost of compliance is what made them decide to shut down (although they could have done a go fund me and likely would have met their goal? )
@dmtrubman Quick access to the financial district is your requirement? Thank you for proving that the YIMBY crowd isn’t about “affordable housing” at all but rather about creating more luxury housing for finance bros.
@a_alster@SamAntar@LincolnRestler If only there were some other way to get around NYC besides bike or car—like by train. And not just train, but ELECTRIC train, and—-hear me out—maybe it could go UNDERNEATH the existing streets. And what if it went through all the boroughs too. (Okay, maybe not Staten Island).
@ReynosoBrooklyn Rents up 35% since 2020. Population down by 500,000. But sure, build more housing to reduce rents? GTFO. You are owned by developers and it shows.
@bradlander@nitehawkunion The true meaning of YIMBY: in his own neighborhood, he “rescues” buildings; in Gowanus, he demolishes everything to make way for luxury hi-rises.
@QueensCrapper The thing is, they DONT bike everywhere. They take Lyft and Uber everywhere!!!! And that’s who all of these fees benefit. The more difficult it is to own a car in NYC, the more money those companies make.
@AFineBlogger@QueensCrapper Because the fewer private cars, the more Lyft/uber rides. And it all makes things more difficult for private car owners, and easier for Lyft/uber.
@fuelgrannie@PaperboyPrince Standard approach, Lander used it too. Divide and conquer. Such an insulting waste of constituents time to try and force them into your own pre-determined outcome.
