Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Canada is deeply shocked, outraged, and saddened by the tragic, hateful attack on Dharmesh Kathiriya, a young Hindu, who was fatally assaulted by his neighbor in Clarence-Rockland, near Ottawa, ON.
Equally disturbing is the fact that, to date, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has not classified this brutal act as a hate crime. Moreover, major Canadian media outlets have failed to label it as such, and no prominent leaders have condemned this horrific attack on a young Hindu.
VHP Canada stands in solidarity with the family of Dharmesh and demands swift and decisive justice. This senseless act of violence must not be dismissed as a personal dispute—it is a clear hate crime. Reports indicate that the perpetrator had a history of making racist and hateful remarks against Dharmesh and his family. VHP Canada calls on the OPP to fully investigate this case and ensure the responsible individual is held accountable.

Mr. Sukh Dhaliwal, addressing the 1984 riots in India, a tragic event, is commendable. However, on December 6, 2024, CBC News reported that MP Chandra Arya accused you of threatening him in the House of Commons over his opposition to labeling the riots as genocide, raising concerns about democratic decorum and free speech.

In light of this, we have questions regarding incidents within Canada:

1️⃣ The 1985 Air India Flight 182 bombing killed 329 Canadians, making it the worst terrorist attack in aviation history. Why has Canadian leadership been less vocal or proactive about this tragedy, which was plotted and executed on Canadian soil?

2️⃣ While raising concerns about an issue that occurred 40 years ago, why is such an old event being prioritized now? How do you address recurring incidents of vandalism against places of worship in Canada today? Shouldn't recent domestic issues of intolerance and safety take precedence?

3️⃣ Is labeling the 1984 riots as "genocide" a genuine humanitarian effort or a political strategy to appeal to specific groups? How do you address concerns from Canadians who feel alienated by selective advocacy?

4️⃣ Are taxpayers expecting you to focus on foreign interests or domestic issues? Why is your attention directed outside Canada instead of prioritizing Canadian concerns?

5️⃣ How do you address allegations of threatening a fellow MP? Taxpayers elected you to focus on Canada’s issues, not international affairs.

6️⃣ By framing the 1984 riots as "genocide," are you risking deeper divisions within Canadian society, particularly between Sikh and Hindu communities? How do you plan to foster unity amidst these sensitive discussions?

7️⃣ Over the last several years, there have been growing concerns about the misuse of Canada’s immigration, asylum, and refugee policies, with extremists or anti-social elements gaining entry under the pretext of targeted oppression. Are you creating a foundation that could expedite this misuse? What is your intent behind actions that risk compromising national security or disrupting Canadian society?

8️⃣ Critics claim this motion is politically motivated to appease voter groups. How do you respond to these allegations?

We urge Canadian voters to elect leaders who prioritize unity, accountability, and the well-being of all Canadians. Politicians using divisive tactics, ignoring domestic concerns, or misusing Canadian policies waste taxpayer dollars and undermine Canada’s values. Future elections should bring leaders committed to harmony and the nation’s collective interests.
