Sunday banking is not new, but the reason behind it matters.
- *31st March 2024 & 31st March 2019:* Year-end closing.
- *13th Nov 2016:* Demonetisation exigency.
- *26th March 2017:* Govt. tax collection & year-end.
But *27th September 2026 is different.*
This time, the Govt. has ordered all PSU Banks & RRBs to work on a Sunday, just before the 28-30 Sept strike, in the name of avoiding customer inconvenience due to a 5-day closure.
The irony is clear:
*When the Govt. needs continuity, Sunday can be made a working day overnight.*
*When bankers demand a 5-Day Week – a demand pending for years and already agreed in principle – the same urgency vanishes.*
Govt. can use its power to enforce Sunday working to counter a strike, but it will not use the same power to implement 5-Day Banking and truly serve work-life balance.
You may open branches on Sunday, but you cannot close our united fight for *5-Day Banking.*
Public sector banks official working hours is 7 hours with half an hour lunch time means 6 and half hour per day .we are asking 28 Saturday off that means 182 hours off in a year in lieu of that we have agreed to work 40 minutes extra daily and in a year banks remained open for 275 days that means we have agreed to work 183 hours so it is squared off and on top of that every officers works extra daily 2 to 3 hours means 550 hours to 800 hours extra unpaid hours every PSB officers give every year to bank .
Unfortunately nobody notices and appreciates it .

Koi Paisa deke tweet karne bolo to turant kardo..?
Such a shame a teacher is doing this.
A large number of public sector banks employees will be working on Sunday much against their wishes .
And my request to them is that you have every reason to feel let down by your union ,your bank management, RBI and government of India but treat this as a tactical setback and not defeat of our agitation and movement for 5 days banking week.
Josh should be high .
Victory will be ours .
It is just a matter of days and months .
A large number of public sector banks employees will be working on Sunday much against their wishes .
Government and bank management doing free publicity of our strike .
Negative publicity is also a good publicity.
En sabo ko dil se shukriya and dhanyawad.
Wish they do much more such publicity.
Give credit where it is due .
I am in banking industry since 1985 and I never seen 3 days strike happening across all public sector banks .
This is unprecedented and for this UFBU leadership deserve our appreciation.
@Gabbar0099 Complete Lie & Fake.

But even after 1000 Days No notification came. Govt also replied in Parliament about the Proposal.
@Phunsukwangduji Working hours isn't 10-4, it's Customer visiting Hours. Working Hours go beyond 8pm.
Even if there is Leave or Holiday, Banks call them on Holidays for targets and Campaigns.
5 Days Banking is Global Standard and all Financial institutions & regulator like RBI work in 5 Days.

An Appeal to All Bank Employees
For a farmer, today's tractor is tomorrow's stronger harvest, made possible by steady banking. From financing equipment and supporting the crop season to building future savings, continued access to banking can help keep these fields growing.
I request all bank employees to reconsider the proposed strike and help ensure that farmers can continue investing in their future without disruption.
Let his harvest keep growing stronger. Let banking stand behind every season.
