As I recall, the US was theoretically acting against Israeli interests at the time of the Liberty attack. Attempting to engineer an end of the Six Day War. The Liberty was producing signals intelligence that could harm Israel. Then the "accident" occurred. It's much more than a simple friendly fire incident.
Lovecraft is also hard to put on film because he didn't do characters. There's typically very little dialogue. He'll describe a conversation after the fact rather than let it play out in dialogue that would develop the characters. To put a Lovecraft story on the screen you need to invent a cast or develop some artistic workaround for not having one.
@ChristianHeiens Then they decided Pride celebration was too normal. So they pushed it to the same toxic extreme they do with everything else and ruined it.
@Rothmus The last Confederate general to surrender was Brigadier General Stand Watie, a leader of the Cherokee Nation. He surrendered the First Indian Brigade of the Army of the Trans-Mississippi on June 23, 1865, near Doaksville in the Choctaw Nation (present-day Oklahoma).
The fact that we are having a hard time throwing America a 250th birthday party because leftists are threatening to kill everyone involved is the most zeitgeist shit I’ve ever seen in my life
A movie based on a book is fanfiction. The same characters and situations, but seen through the mind of another person who loves the original. If they deliberately part from the original in a way that breaks it, it becomes spitefiction. A hater retelling the story to vandalize the original.
@sappholives83@jk_rowling@Glinner There's a theory that Tyson's politics are a result of the "Me Too" allegations against him. That someone is extorting him by leaving him alone as long as he pushes leftist ideas. I'm not asserting that's the case, just saying it's plausible.
@RetroMoviesDB I missed the original theatrical run, but I was 17 when it debuted on cable TV. The perfect age to appreciate it. A bit younger and it's bonkers. A bit older and it's weirdly horny.
Whoever made this is an absolute genius. This is the funniest thing I’ve seen this week 😂
The View got Marjorie Taylor Greene to finally admit she’s retarded and join the Democrats.
This is comedy gold.
(AI satire at its best)🤣
@OPaladins2 George Lucas wanted to make Flash Gordon, but it was already in the works. It came out in 1980. So he made his own homage to the serials without having the character. Once you understand the unserious action fantasy energy of the source material Star Wars makes more sense.
