@EddieComeaux I completely agree. It seems like having that kind of enforcement on schools grounds hurts students instead of helping them. Schools should consider defunding and taking that money and putting it towards actually helping students who are in need #RacialJustice
@ArianaMaganaPe1@MisssNallely Hi I completely agree with you. It isn’t right to make student athletes take classes that will not benefit the student and their learning @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely#Ucr150
It isnt fair for student athletes to be pressured into taking easier courses to benefit & make the coaches & the institutions look good. Students should be given the support needed not only in whatever sport they play but also in their academics #Ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@Leslierodrguzz @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely Hi, I completely agree with you. Changes need to be made. It isn’t fair for athletes to be manipulated and exploited. The NCAA does not take student athletes education serious @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely#Ucr150
The NCAA insists that the amateurism model ensures that athletes are students first & they shouldn’t be paid for playing a sport. The NCAA offers hardly any support to athletes. It isn’t fair for them be exploited & not be properly compensated #Ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@btoledo50@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar Hi Brenda, you bring up a good point, the NCAA’s transfer rules seem excessive and none of them seem to prioritize the students @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #ucr150
If an athlete transfers to an NCAA school from another 4 year they more then likely will have to spend a year in residency, meaning they can’t play for that year. Is this reasonable? Or is this a way to discourage students from transferring? #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@noeliahidalgo22@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar Hi, I agree with you, the NCAA needs to do better at protecting these athletes. They shouldn’t have to hide their injuries in fear of being penalized or having to deal with an unapproachable coach #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
The NCAA needs to make sure that schools have/implement concussion management plans. Coaches especially should have a clear understanding as to what to do in a situation like that to make themselves approachable to their athletes #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@lily_lopez813 @MisssNallely@RabeaQamar Hi Liliana, you bring up a good point. Not only is the funding unfair but so is the recognition that male and female athletes receive. @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely#ucr150
Title IX was created to prohibit discrimination and to promote equal treatment in athletics but 80% of schools still don’t comply with title IX. Women athletes are not receiving the same recognition that male athletes receive @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely#ucr150
@sheilaluna___@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar Hi Sheila, I agree with you. It isn’t fair that the majority of the students being recruited might not have a complete understanding as to what they’re signing away. I think recruiters should do a better job at explaining everything thoroughly. @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely#ucr150
The NCAA uses the NLI to take advantage of the fact that most of the student athletes that are being recruited have little to no idea how the whole system works and how easily they can lose their rights #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@ucrbrooke@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar Hi Brooke, I was also very surprised to learn about this. It’s sad that these big institutions (that profit off of their athletes) can’t even provide the bare minimum for these students to live. @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely#ucr150
The practice of amateurism is a way for the NCAA to control and hinder the lives of student athletes. These students put in a great amount of effort but are limited to what they can do in fear of being penalized. @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #ucr150
@babyyclare @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar Hi Clarissa, I agree with you. Student athletes should be compensated for their hard work from universities. It’s important to take into consideration not only the hard work they put in but also how universities profit off of them
The NCAA d1 approved an extra year of eligibility for students in spring sports. Is this a good idea? Considering there are a limited amount of scholarships, spots, and there will be a whole new freshman class in a year @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #Ucr150 https://t.co/oUIVSSKufU
