I am immensely happy to see the Veligonda Project, my father’s dream, becoming a reality. It gives me great satisfaction that I could be part of this monumental endeavour, that our government completed the most challenging twin tunnels and dedicated them to the nation, and that Krishna waters are now flowing through them.

Veligonda is nothing short of a lifeline for lakhs of families suffering from fluorosis due to the lack of safe drinking water and for farmers who have long been waiting for irrigation water.

But the publicity campaign being carried out by Chandrababu Naidu and his yellow media over Veligonda is astonishing. What we have been witnessing over the past few days is nothing but an attempt to rewrite the history of the project and steal credit for work done by others.

@ncbn garu, the history of Veligonda is crystal clear:

The foundation stone alone was yours.
The vision and comprehensive development of the project belonged to YSR garu.
The crucial twin tunnels were completed during our government.
What you are doing now is simply stealing the credit.

Chandrababu garu, no matter how much you and your friendly media try to distort history, facts cannot be changed. Getting your media to sing your praises cannot conceal the truth.

In 1996, just before the elections, you hurriedly laid a foundation stone and then abandoned the project. You remained in power for another eight years, until 2004, but failed to move the project even a single step forward. During those eight years, you spent just Rs 10 lakh. Even that amount was spent only on the foundation stone ceremony and arrangements for the public meeting. This single fact is enough to expose your commitment to Veligonda.

After YSR garu became Chief Minister, he gave the Veligonda Project a comprehensive shape as part of Jalayagnam. He took up the construction of the twin tunnels, Nallamala Sagar reservoir, three dams, feeder channel and main canals, laying the foundation for the project to become a reality.

The lifeline of Veligonda is its 37.587-km twin tunnels. Without these tunnels, Krishna waters cannot reach the project.

Of the total tunnel length, 20.333 km was completed during the construction initiated under YSR garu. During your tenure between 2014 and 2019, only 6.686 km was completed. You could not achieve a breakthrough in even one of the tunnels.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and severe financial constraints, our government completed the remaining and most difficult 10.568 km of tunnelling. Tunnel-1 was completed in January 2021 and Tunnel-2 in January 2024. On 6 March 2024, we dedicated the twin tunnels to the nation. We also took up the head regulators and canal-linking works and prepared the system for the conveyance of water.

How, then, can you claim that you built the entire project? Is your attempt to appropriate the entire credit despite having made no meaningful contribution not yet another example of your habitual credit-stealing politics?

After returning to power, you have also done grave injustice to this backward region in other areas.

Why have you failed to take forward the 131-bed Super Speciality Hospital at Peddadornala, whose construction was initiated by our government? Why did you stop the construction of the Government Medical College at Markapuram, which we initiated to provide quality healthcare to people in this backward region? Why are you trying to hand over, in the name of privatisation, a medical college that should be completed and operated in the government sector to people close to you? What greater evidence is needed of your neglect towards backward regions?

If we had made the twin tunnels ready in 2024 itself, why did you fail to complete the rehabilitation of displaced families for 26 months? Why was water not conveyed to Nallamala Sagar? Why did you delay for two years the irrigation and drinking water benefits that should have reached the people?

On the other hand, even the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) package has not been paid in full to the displaced families. Hundreds of families are already expressing anguish that they have not received the compensation due to them under the rehabilitation package, yet they are allegedly being forced to vacate their villages. They complain that electricity connections to their villages have been cut and drinking water supply stopped.

Do none of these hardships concern you?

Chandrababu garu, set aside the publicity spectacle. Fill Nallamala Sagar. Provide irrigation water to farmers. Supply safe drinking water to the fluoride-affected areas. Complete the Peddadornala Super Speciality Hospital and the Markapuram Government Medical College in the government sector.

That is what the people of this backward region need, not publicity or attempts to steal credit.

చంద్రబాబుగారూ… మీరు, మీ అనుకూల మీడియా ఎంతగా చరిత్రను వక్రీకరించినా వాస్తవాలు మారవు. మీ మీడియాలో మీకు భజన చేయించుకున్నంత మాత్రాన నిజాలను దాచలేరు. 1996లో హడావిడిగా అప్ప‌ట్లో ఎన్నిక‌ల ముందు శంకుస్థాపన రాయి వేసి చేతులు దులుపుకొన్నారు. ఆ తర్వాత 2004 వరకూ ఎనిమిదేళ్లు అధికారంలో ఉన్నా ప్రాజెక్టును ఒక్క అడుగూ ముందుకు తీసుకెళ్లలేదు. ఆ ఎనిమిదేళ్లలో మీరు ఖర్చుచేసింది కేవలం రూ.10 లక్షలు. అదీ శంకుస్థాపన, సభ ఏర్పాట్లకే. వెలిగొండపై మీ చిత్తశుద్ధి ఏమిటో ఈ ఒక్క వాస్తవమే చెబుతోంది.

వైయస్సార్‌ గారు ముఖ్యమంత్రి అయ్యాక జలయజ్ఞంలో భాగంగా వెలిగొండకు సమగ్ర రూపమిచ్చారు. జంట సొరంగాలు, నల్లమలసాగర్‌, మూడు డ్యామ్‌లు, ఫీడర్‌ ఛానల్‌, ప్రధాన కాలువల నిర్మాణాన్ని చేపట్టి ప్రాజెక్టును సాకారం చేశారు.

వెలిగొండకు ప్రాణం 37.587 కిలోమీటర్ల జంట సొరంగాలు. అవి లేకపోతే కృష్ణా జలాలు రావు. వైయస్సార్‌ గారు ప్రారంభించిన నిర్మాణ దశలో 20.333 కిలోమీటర్లు పూర్తయ్యాయి. 2014–19 మధ్య మీ హయాంలో జరిగింది కేవలం 6.686 కిలోమీటర్లు. ఒక్క సొరంగానికీ కూడా బ్రేక్‌త్రూ సాధించలేకపోయారు.
మా ప్రభుత్వ హయాంలో కరోనా, ఆర్థిక ఇబ్బందులను ఎదుర్కొంటూనే మిగిలిన అత్యంత క్లిష్టమైన 10.568 కిలోమీటర్ల తవ్వకాన్ని పూర్తిచేశాం. టన్నెల్‌–1ను 2021 జనవరిలో, టన్నెల్‌–2ను 2024 జనవరిలో పూర్తిచేశాం. 2024 మార్చి 6న జంట సొరంగాలను జాతికి అంకితం చేశాం. హెడ్‌ రెగ్యులేటర్లు, కాలువల అనుసంధాన పనులు చేపట్టి నీటి తరలింపునకు మార్గం అప్పుడే మేము సిద్ధం చేశాం. మరి మొత్తం ప్రాజెక్టును మీరే నిర్మించినట్లు ఎలా చెప్పుకుంటారు? ఏ కాంట్రిబ్యూషన్‌ లేకుండానే మొత్తం క్రెడిట్‌ను కాజేయాలనుకోవడం మీ సహజ నైజానికి మరో నిదర్శనం కాదా?

అధికారంలోకి వచ్చాక ఈ ప్రాంతానికి మరోవైపున తీరని అన్యాయం చేశారు. మేం చేపట్టిన పెద్దదోర్నాలలోని 131 పడకల సూపర్‌ స్పెషాలిటీ ఆస్పత్రి పనులను ఎందుకు ముందుకు తీసుకెళ్లడం లేదు? వెనుకబడిన ప్రాంత ప్రజలకు అత్యుత్తమ వైద్యం అందించేందుకు మేం ప్రారంభించిన మార్కాపురం ప్రభుత్వ మెడికల్‌ కాలేజీ నిర్మాణాన్ని ఎందుకు ఆపేశారు? ప్రభుత్వ రంగంలో పూర్తిచేయాల్సిన మెడికల్‌ కాలేజీని ప్రైవేటు పేరుతో మీ వాళ్ల చేతుల్లో పెట్టేందుకు ఎందుకు ప్రయత్నిస్తున్నారు? వెనుకబడిన ప్రాంతాలపై మీకున్న నిర్లక్ష్యానికి ఇంతకంటే నిదర్శనం కావాలా?

జంట సొరంగాలను మేం 2024లోనే సిద్ధంచేస్తే, 26 నెలలపాటు నిర్వాసితుల పునరావాసాన్ని ఎందుకు పూర్తిచేయలేదు? నల్లమలసాగర్‌కు నీటిని ఎందుకు తరలించలేదు? రెండేళ్లపాటు ప్రజలకు అందాల్సిన సాగు, తాగునీటి ప్రయోజనాలను ఎందుకు ఆలస్యం చేశారు?

మ‌రోవైపు నిర్వాసితుల‌కు ఆర్అండ్ఆర్‌ ప్యాకేజీని కూడా పూర్తిగా చెల్లించ‌లేదు. ఇప్ప‌టికే వంద‌లాది కుటుంబాలు త‌మ‌కు పున‌రావాస ప్యాకేజీ కింద అందాల్సిన డ‌బ్బులు అంద‌లేద‌ని, అయినా బ‌ల‌వంతంగా ఊళ్లు ఖాళీ చేయిస్తున్నార‌ని, త‌మ ఊళ్ల‌కు క‌రెంటు క‌ట్ చేశార‌ని, తాగునీటి స‌ర‌ఫ‌రాను ఆపేశార‌ని ఆవేద‌న వ్య‌క్తం చేస్తున్నారు. ఇవేమీ మీకు కనిపించడం లేదా?

తిరుపతిలోని విద్యాసంస్థలు, యూనివర్సిటీల నుంచి విద్యాభ్యాసం పూర్తిచేసుకున్న విద్యార్థులకు సరైన నైపుణ్య శిక్షణ లేనందున, ఇందుకోసం NIELIT ఏర్పాటు చేయడానికి కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వానికి ప్రతిపాదనలు పంపవలసిందిగా అప్పటి ముఖ్యమంత్రి వైఎస్ జగన్‌మోహన్ రెడ్డి గారిని కోరుతూ 02-03-2022న లేఖ రాయడం జరిగింది.

తదుపరి, అదే సంవత్సరం 23-12-2022న డైరెక్టర్ జనరల్, NIELIT గారికి లేఖ రాస్తూ, NIELIT ప్రతినిధులను పంపించి సాధ్యాసాధ్యాలను అధ్యయనం చేసేందుకు నిపుణుల కమిటీని పంపించినందుకు తిరుపతి ప్రజల తరఫున కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలియజేస్తూ, ఈ ప్రక్రియను త్వరగా ఆచరణలోకి తీసుకురావాలని కోరడం జరిగింది.

01-04-2023న తిరుపతిలో NIELIT సంస్థను ప్రారంభిస్తున్నందుకు గౌరవ మంత్రికి కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలుపుతూ, పర్మినెంట్ క్యాంపస్‌ ఏర్పాటు చేయాలని కోరడం జరిగింది.

17-05-2023న ఈ అంశంపై పూర్తి స్థాయి అధ్యయనం చేస్తామని సమాధానమిచ్చారు.

తిరుపతిలో NIELIT శాశ్వత క్యాంపస్‌ ఏర్పాటు ప్రక్రియను వేగవంతం చేయాలని కోరుతూ 15-05-2026న కేంద్ర మంత్రి శ్రీ అశ్విని వైష్ణవ్ గారిని కలిసి విజ్ఞప్తి చేయడం జరిగింది. అప్పటికే పలుమార్లు మంత్రి గారిని ఈ అంశంపై కలవడంతో, అందుకు ఆయన 22-06-2026న ఇచ్చిన సమాధానంలో NIELIT శాశ్వత క్యాంపస్‌ ఏర్పాటుకు అవసరమైన భూ కేటాయింపు వివరాలతో పాటు DPRను పంపాలని కోరారు.

కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వ MeitY పరిధిలోని NIELIT నిపుణులచే రూపొందించిన DPRలోనే “Setting up of permanent campus of NIELIT at Tirupati, which is deemed to be university” అని స్పష్టంగా పేర్కొన్నారు. అంతేకాదు, తిరుపతిలో సుమారు 15 ఎకరాల భూమిని ఉచితంగా కేటాయించేందుకు ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ప్రభుత్వం ప్రణాళిక చేసినట్లు కూడా DPRలో స్పష్టంగా పేర్కొన్నారు. ఇందుకు సంబంధించిన స్కెచ్‌ను కూడా దీనితో జతపరచడం జరిగింది.

బెంగళూరు, హైదరాబాద్‌ వంటి నగరాలకు వెళ్లి ఉద్యోగాలకు అవసరమైన నైపుణ్య శిక్షణ పొందేందుకు ఆర్థిక వనరులు లేని నిరుపేద విద్యార్థులు, భూ కేటాయింపులు కూడా పూర్తయ్యే సమయంలో ఇప్పుడు NIELITను తిరుపతి నుంచి అమరావతికి ఎందుకు తరలిస్తున్నారని ప్రశ్నిస్తున్నారు.

ఈ వివాదంపై రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం రాయలసీమ విద్యార్థులకు, యువతకు స్పష్టత ఇవ్వాలి.

​The arrest did not cost him his job. He remained at Zee News for another decade, running propaganda for Modi, before moving to Aaj Tak.

​Now, he is being paid ₹15 crore a year by Doordarshan. That is ₹1.25 crore a month, funded by taxpayers.

​He spent years selling propaganda to the public. Now, our money is being used to keep paying him.

​This is not a coincidence. This is how the ecosystem rewards its own.
