VIDEO: Why should petrol be expensive in a country that produces it, if it’s not a sign of failure? Why is the war in Iran affecting Nigeria, a major producer of oil? - Dele Farotimi
I have been quiet on the campaigns, & my reason is simple, “nothing is official just yet.” When I enter the scene? everything changes.
The last election was a scourge, I have scars to prove it. It was a fratricidal battle that upended decades of friendships. All of a sudden, a once reasonable people began to lose their senses.
It all started immediately after he defeated the mandate in Lagos. Then I made it clear that I will only campaign for one man. Pretty much everything I do is for a reason. I pick my battles, I don’t go fighting everybody. I fight one day at a time, so I can fight another day. My voice is powerful, it penetrates all the right quarters.
It means that I could never betray my conscience. All I have done? I have done for country. Nigeria has become the ghost of its feeble past. Pretty much everything has nosedived. Unity is gone, the country is divided.
The Economy is weak & unstable. Nowhere is safe, it’s insecurity like no other. “A house divided among itself cannot stand!” Then we have fools capita. The “see-finish” is climactic, check the timeline, it has reached a crescendo.
As Nigerians, this is not our finest hour!
Now Lesotho, Namibia, Ghana, South Africa, Zambia; Africans are laughing at us. Nigeria is no longer what it used to be, & we know the reason. Real life is no banter, but we can no longer banter & win. There is fire on the mountain, we have lost the leverage.
Aso Rock has been a nursing home for 11 years. Nigerians are yet to catch a break, & it’s unfair. Now the question is, WHAT SHOULD WE DO?
All the progress we made since 1999 has been washed down the drain. Elections no longer count, it’s now won at the courts. Judges now sing “on your mandate” fascist’s song. They frolic with politicians in the open. The National Assembly won’t pass a new Electoral Act.
The will of the people is crushed almost. Politicians now pursue their own inordinate ambitions. It’s a Constitutional Monarchy we’re in; power is passed from fathers to their sons.
And despite all of the shenanigans, one man keeps reassuring us that things could turn around. Imagine having a strong & younger president for the first time in eleven years?
A man full of integrity, whom other nations will respect. When we fall into the river, he is always ready to fish us out. Yet he is in no mood for adulation. There comes a time when confidence becomes insanity, he has crossed that bridge. And unlike others standing on the mandate, he no Manchurian candidate.
Lust is their trial, but pleasure is avoidable.
What we do here is serious business. The sunbird should leave the nest occasionally. He is doing so much good out there - fixing a broken society. This is Foreign Policy, he is Foreign Direct Investments. This is the symbol of raw power, he is no hazardous history.
FREEDOM AT LAST! Nigerians will breathe. The international embarrassment will cease. People may have judged him wrongly. They judge him based on their own standards. But it’s easy to judge when you don’t have all the facts.
Be careful choosing your heroes. Not every hero has your back. People follow him because he is not only safe, he is telling the truth. He is that father that every generation would want.
They never considered us a threat until we dealt with them. “Four people tweeting in a room” they said! We came along & everything changed! Suddenly, people began to ask questions. The Obidients are powerful, you can’t get rid of us that easily. The other camp can do with a day off right now. They should remember what happened the last time.
The plan is never about fighting without a plan. It’s about convincing the people to rise up & save themselves. People just need a spark to stand up for themselves. He is that spark! He may not be the change we expect, but he is the change we need. Everything is going to be fine!
DARLINGS, WILL YOU JOIN ME TO FIGHT FOR COUNTRY AND FOR GLORY, ONE LAST TIME?
Judi Dench was on Graham Norton last night to push her new book about her life and work with Shakespeare. After making the point we quote Shakespeare daily without knowing it, this happened:
If these children were strong enough to survive forced assimilation and abuse by Christian missionaries — then non-Native parents should be okay with their kids learning about it in school. Agree?
“I don’t care for mail-in voting,” said Mark Finchem, the Trump-backed Arizona secretary of state candidate. “That’s why I go to the polls.”
He voted by mail in 28 of the past 30 elections. (@thereidout Blog) https://t.co/f2Xl0VyOlw
Iranian Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi says #MahsaAmini’s death was “the last straw for the women & the people… For 43 years the Iranian people have not had any response for any of their demands… This regime has to change because the people want a democratic & secular government.”
