The 7 year old girl who came to this country in 1997, who learned English from Reading Rainbow and kindness from Mr. Rogers, could never have imagined that one day, her face would appear on that very same screen—speaking back to the country that shaped her.
When the history of 21st century America is written, @BernieSanders will be seen as one of the most consequential leaders who built a movement to transform an unfair and lopsided economic and political system. Worth reading @ShaneGoldmacher piece.
Bill McKibben on Tom Steyer: "We can count on most Democrats, by this point, to say more or less the right things, but it remains fairly rare to have champions who understand the issues intimately and will use political capital to do something about them.
"That’s why I’ve been grateful to watch @TomSteyer's run for governor of California."

It is very disheartening to see that my privileged opponent, @DavidWeprin, who has in the past falsely claimed to be the “first South Asian Assemblymember” is challenging my petitions and my candidacy.
As a young, South Asian, Muslim, second-generation immigrant, and working-class teacher running for State Assembly, I find this challenge a clear indication of my opponent being afraid of a fair primary, and of no surprise. After all, in 2020, I ran against David Weprin for District Leader, another seat he was gatekeeping, and lost to him in a very close election by about 400 votes.
When I ran for office in the past, it was to help bring true representation and to address the issues for BIPOC, immigrant, and working-class community members, who for far too long have been underserved,
underfunded, under-resourced, and under-represented. This dream to bring real change for the community remains the same.
After bombing a school and massacring young girls, the war criminal in the White House is threatening genocide.
It's time to invoke the 25th Amendment. This maniac should be removed from office.
Hakeem Jeffries has had far more consequential failures as a speaker than not buying his website domain but this makes the incompetence even more obvious. That even on a basic level he just doesn’t care.
He’s a careerist coasting on title and status rather than doing his job.
@chunkyfila@WillBredderman@jewishinsider Lmao at “I’m a reporter”. These aren’t reporters. They’re professional tabloid operatives who harass activists instead of doing real reporting on abuse of power. Disgusting. And you’re not alone. Never alone. Many of us have been down this path. 🧡
🚨 NEW: At a Super Bowl LX pre-game concert in San Francisco, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong used his set to call out politics and the Epstein files — including altering lyrics to say “the representative from Epstein Island has the floor.”
He also urged ICE agents to quit their jobs, directly criticizing Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, Kristi Noem, and others.
Even with good intentions, this endorsement is a bad deal: a one-off childcare promise pulled from reserves, no plan to tax the rich, and donors put first. We should tax the ultra-wealthy and corporations and fund universal childcare in the budget. Not with couch-cushion money.
Cutting DHS funding matters because it refuses legitimacy. When Democrats say “ICE will exist anyway,” that’s not realism — it’s surrender. Budgets are moral documents. You don’t fight authoritarian systems by perfecting their paperwork. You fight them by withholding consent.
I will always stand with rep @IlhanMN because she continues to stand with working class people despite being attacked relentlessly by billionaires corrupt politicans and their goons. She’s a true warrior.
how fucking stupid is it that we have all these supposed billionaire geniuses running around and their greatest innovation of our lifetime has been stealing all our data to sell us ads.
ICE is not simply a border agency that occasionally intrudes into the economy.
It is a labor-market institution: an apparatus that disciplines workers, structures whole industries, and makes organizing riskier: https://t.co/urDKphkMMt
Zohran putting his political capital behind a democratic socialist with a labor background over the objections of his left-liberal NGO allies is a good thing.
