A lot of people don't realise how beautiful the southern Okanagan is.
The whole Okanagan is beautiful, but the real beauty imo starts at around Peachland where it starts turning into true semi-desert.

Summerland mostly doesn't sit down on the lake like the other communities in the South Okanagan. The main part of it sits up above the lake. It's a perch from where you view paradise.

Penticton and Summerland are where I grew up.
My parents owned the Garnet Valley Ranch... speaking of paradise.

It is ancient eerie, and lonely desert up there. Full of ponderosa pines and meadows of alfalfa on a plateau above the lake.
It's the type of place that if a UFO landed, it would almost seem expected.
Of course. Where else would you land?

It's so stunningly beautiful, it's hard to describe.
This is hard to take. I don't even know if it exists.

My prayers for the people, the communities, and the land of that entire region. 🙏

The Bald Range Fire started around 15km West from Downtown Summerland, BC. It has been burning for exactly 12 hours now and has made it essentially down to Okanagan Lake.

This is a horrific day in BC history. This morning's images at day break will haunt many of us across the country when they are shown. I hope that every resident of Summerland was able to escape with their lives.

This is some of the most extreme Wildfire Behavior that we have ever seen in BC before, and that's really saying something for us...

When I pop out into the garden for 5 minutes, it’s always the best 3 hours of the day 😂
I go out to pick a cucumber. Then I notice a rose that needs deadheading. That reminds me to tie in a sweet pea. Then there’s a bee on a dahlia that deserves a minute of admiration. Then I spot a handful of seeds ready to collect…
An hour later, I’m carrying flowers, tomatoes, a rusty trowel I lost last week, and still haven’t picked the cucumber.
The garden has a wonderfully polite way of stealing your day, and I never seem to mind. Happy Thursday you lovely Gardeners ❤️
