@GirlyScouts@ShitpostRock This is like saying having fertilizer is the same as having a bomb, because when combined with other things (that you do not have), it can become a bomb. An embryo is having all of the ingredients mixed together, but “it isn’t a bomb YET” because it hasn’t been put in a casing.
@rboonie1961@SonnyGelly@WarBanditXx@Jennife01484701@mtntallpaul If they hear gunshots, sure, why not. After all, sobriety checks are done when there is SOME evidence that alcohol was used. If there aren’t gunshots, there shouldn’t be random checks. And hey, with all cops having body cameras, you could sue cops if they check you with no shots.
@ChampionsOTIce@MadamLaconic@grok Funny thing is, the study they post in defense of their point doesn’t actually defend their point. Capital punishment being so infrequent makes it toothless as a deterrent, in turn allowing them to argue that it does not work as a deterrent at all.
@ChampionsOTIce@MadamLaconic@grok “Empirically, capital punishment is too infrequent to have a measureable effect on the crime drop. Criminologically, the existence and use of the death penalty may not even create the deterrent effect on potential offenders that lawmakers hoped when enacting such laws.”
@MadamLaconic@4m4l3kBr1t@ChampionsOTIce Your own study that you posted doesn’t disprove it, it just shows that capital punishment isn’t done enough to act as a deterrent.

@ChampionsOTIce By the way, Africa doesn’t even get the Middle East in the original prompt. It’s just 2026 continental Africa + Madagascar vs 1939 continental Europe + Britain and Iceland. Striking into the heart of Europe is only possible as one-way trips of whatever is being sent by Africa.
@Guardsman_Miku People weirdly forget that it was a very DELIBERATE choice that Africa as a continent has little to no force-projection capability outside of the continent. The continuous instability makes it just as likely for long-range weapons to be used against the seller by a successor.
@leemarh7099 Counterpoint: Cedric checked out the only book that references it (evidenced by him giving Harry the solution to the golden egg), and kept it checked out until after the task was completed. It was likely a book on underwater exploration, considering everything else he whipped out
@MerkavaMarkFour@Randomfriend14 … you do realize that modern jets REALLY should not be landing on unpaved runways, right? A loose rock gets kicked up into the intake and boom, non-functional aircraft. Then there’s the fact that they have to ship all the fuel to the captured airfield, all at risk of guerillas.
@axiochrono Hey, so I don’t know if you realize this, but term limits are a good thing to minimize corruption and provide new ideas. No term limits leaves the exact same person owned by the exact same groups in a position of power for decades.
@AddictedtoArg@showusyourwork You can only rent it out at that same $1000 a month after the renovations. So, which option do you go with: renovation that takes the next three or more years of income just to offset that price alone (not to mention things like property tax/etc), or just leave it empty at a loss
@AddictedtoArg@showusyourwork Crucially, when you can’t raise the rent commensurate with the renovations you are legally obligated to do by that government. You make $1000 a month off of rent controlled unit A. Tenant moves and you are legally obligated to renovate it to the tune of $36,000 before re-renting.
