Today I sat down with Jordan Levi, the Kosher Cowboy - a Jewish kid from the Chicago suburbs who became the largest cattle feeder in America.

Jordan runs Five Rivers Cattle Feeding with a capacity of nearly a million head. He started as a runner on the Chicago Board of Trade at 13 and found his way to cattle through a hedge fund that sent him to a feedlot in Amarillo. He showed up in Gucci loafers and never left the industry.

We go deep on how he trades the curve instead of making binary bets, why the cattle supply is the tightest since the 1950s, and what it takes to manage risk on nearly a million animals across 13 feedlots.

This is a follow-up to our August 19th post warning about the potential for a top 5 cold US center east winter. Everything is lining up still for that to happen with the leading edge of what could be some of the coldest first half of December temperatures seen in 40 years. The basis for this is a rare late November Arctic SSW Event that then manifests into a high pressure blocking pattern in the North Pacific that drives frigid arctic air into the eastern half of the US. One of the best measures of this upper airflow pattern is something called the Western Pacific Oscillation. When it is in the negative phase is when this high pressure blocking kicks in. One of the most extreme negative WPO phases for December ever seen is showing up in short term weather models. This likely won't be the last time this happens this season and it is highly likely that an additional Sudden Stratospheric Warming Event over the Arctic will occur again in Jan/Feb 2026 to add additional frigid weather. This type of US winter pattern should end late causing wintry weather to still exist into the month of March. Needless to say the energy demand for Natural Gas and Heating oil could set all time records causing the need for prices to rise in order to ration demand. End users, consumers and speculators should consider protective actions to guard against upside price risks. God bless to all of you for happiness, health, safety and great inspirational success.

We had 15 nights during grain fill stay above 70 degrees. Rule of thumb has been 1% loss per night. If you had 300 bu to lose at tassel, the overnight temps brought you to 255 by itself.

Know what you’re buying. This picture has store beef(left), and farm beef(right). There is an obvious visible difference between the two! But the differences don’t stop there!

1. You may notice in the picture the color difference. The store bought is pumped full of additives and water. There isn’t a guarantee of where that beef came from either. Yes, it may have USDA label on it but as long as that animal was packaged in the US, it can be called a Product of the USA. The meat in the package is not from one single cow, rather scraps from multiple cows. It could have came from Argentina, Canada, or Brazil.

2. The beef on the right is darker and is farm raised beef. It is filled with more nutrients & flavor. The ground is also from one cow and not just scraps from multiple cows.

3. Buying your beef from a local Farmer/Rancher you are helping to buy a little girl dance shoes or a little boy baseball gear. Buying from the store just lines the pockets of the already wealthy meat packers. Let’s help each other. We help you eat healthy, you help us provide for our families.
