Snyder: One of our national fairy tales is that [Donald Trump] is a negotiator or he has some kind of negotiating skills. He does not. He's a charismatic performer who played a negotiator on TV, but he does not have negotiating skills. He's terrible at it.
It's a political thing because that's explicitly how Trump framed it: he attacked Obama and Biden and said he was going to fix what they had failed to. And now that his hubristic bloviating has backfired on him - and the country - yet again, people of course are mocking him.
If the USA weren't such a broken country, Iran getting $425 BILLION would be the death knell and impeachment of any president in history.
What an absolute embarrassment of an admin.
it’s so cool how everyone on the right was like “Trump will make us respected again” when in reality he has just turned America into a global laughingstock thanks to his own incompetence
It’s very funny that Hegseth spends 100 percent of his time talking about how masculine and traditional and warrior are ethos he made the military, then his band of Real Men just speed ran a nearly unprecedented military failure
For starters, I wouldn’t even have health insurance if it weren’t for the ACA. My pre-existing conditions would’ve guaranteed that no one would’ve given me insurance as someone who’s been self-employed since the late 1990s. Second, republicans have repeatedly hobbled the ACA to make it more expensive, starting with the individual mandate that Republicans killed, which caused prices to increase. So if you want to have a discussion about whether we’re better off with the ACA, and who’s responsible for prices going up, happy to have it.
It remains an incredibly grim but admittedly very bleakly funny running bit that we got an administration obsessed with LETHALITY and WARFIGHTERS and then almost immediately had one of the most humiliating defeats in American military history
Sometimes I go back to when Biden was pulling out of Afghanistan and how breathless (and full of clear media bias) the coverage was. Trump started a war American soldiers were killed and wounded in with mixed justifications, lost it, and is just shrugging his shoulders at it.
It’s funny, motocross at the White House is, like, fine with me. But here’s an example of something that is genuinely unforgivable but that a lot of people seem to have moved right past.
For those keeping track at home:
- Knicks about to be NBA Champions.
- War in the Middle East.
- Global Oil Crisis.
- There’s a corrupt criminal in the White House.
Welcome back to 1973.
"The UFC event captures something about this moment in our history.
After all, it’s vulgar, it’s violent, it’s commercial, it’s grandiose, it’s tacky, and it dishonors a place once thought worthy of care and respect. In other words, it’s Donald Trump."
