Absolutely do not do this.
This is mostly offered by "Cosmetologists" or commercialized Dermatology clinic chains. Cosmetology is not a recognized medical degree or a protected medical title under the National Medical Commission in India. So anyone claiming to be "cosmetologist" is not really a medical practitioner. They are similar to certified "coaches" or "wellness experts".
The clinical evidence supporting IV glutathione is exceptionally poor. Marketing claims rely heavily on anecdotal reports and a single, widely criticized trial that suffered from a tiny sample size, poor study design, and unreliable evaluations.
Because the body continuously produces melanin, any potential lightening effect is temporary. Once the extreme systemic doses are stopped, the skin's natural pigmentation returns.
Because IV glutathione is not approved for cosmetic use, the solutions utilized in wellness clinics and med-spas are typically sourced from "compounding pharmacies". This bypasses standard pharmaceutical manufacturing regulations, introducing severe risks.
A "compounded drug" is a custom medication created by a pharmacist or physician who combines, mixes, or alters ingredients on their own.
In August 2026, the US FDA issued an urgent safety warning after dozens of patients experienced potentially fatal infection (sepsis)-like symptoms - including fever, chills, low blood pressure, and hospitalization, following glutathione IV treatments. Clinics were found to be compounding IV drips using dietary-supplement-grade powder, which contained dangerously high levels of bacterial endotoxins.
Administering high doses has been linked to severe adverse effects, including anaphylaxis, acute kidney and liver dysfunction, and potentially fatal skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS and TEN)
Ultimately, the administration of IV glutathione in dermatology and cosmetology clinics is a lucrative marketing trend that operates outside the bounds of evidence-based medicine.
Like I said, absolutely, do not do this.
This is the silent part that people wouldn't know.
Behind closed doors inside a medical conference, a large group of clinicians and researchers giving a standing ovation to another group of clinicians and researchers who found a way to increase survival in patients suffering from one of the, if not the, worst cancer in humans.
Metastatic pancreatic cancer.
They'll do this and then be on their way to see their patients the next day as if nothing happened.
And then work on something new to better what they did in this room.
That is how medical science works.
Value it and value its practitioners.

I was interviewed by @MansviniK for @ForbesIndia to be part of an important topic and a very detailed and fine report on the herbal and dietary supplements/nutraceuticals industry in India.

Here are some hard-hitting facts on herbal and dietary supplements (HDS):
1/ Majority of HDS are untested and unproven and do not have the health benefits they claim.
2/ Majority of HDS are mislabelled, i.e., they do not contain the disclosed ingredients, or have undisclosed components to scam the consumer or cause adverse health events.
3/ HDS is a common cause for liver injury, liver failure and death [see stories on Herbalife, OxyELITE Pro, SlimQUICK].
4/ HDS is the most common cause for increase in liver transplantation in the United States (India will soon follow).
5/ Of the HDS, turmeric containing supplements are a growing problem for liver injury and liver failure which led to the Italian Health Regulatory Authority to issue warning and remove products with turmeric.
6/ A large number of HDS are advertised, promoted and sold with big claims, no evidence - example Ashwaganda, Probiotics, Biotin, Green tea extracts and many more. Actually all of them.
7/ Some supplements have evidence for use and safety margin - example Zinc supplements in a condition called Wilson's disease to reduce copper overload in body.
8/ HDS is not regulated and the choice to use those by the consumer/patient is a gamble at life or death. Some survive, some dont.
With scientific evidence, you dont have to gamble your life away. Evidence-based medicine protects the consumer/patient.
