New @beyondcancer0 analysis out today in @eClinicalMed on mental health in cancer survivorship, led by the brilliant Harriet Forbes. Heightened risks of depression and anxiety persisting for years after diagnosis.. need for improved psychological support. https://t.co/Fyk5VPlflJ
Really enjoyed this collaboration extending work from my Epi MSc @LSHTM. 5-year cancer survivors still experienced high risks of a new episode of anxiety/depression, in 18/20 cancers looked at. @krishnan_lshtm@HelenaCarreira7@beyondcancer0@eClinicalMed

Now "spiky profiles" in autism - a skill profile with peaks and valleys with @BendyBrain and perspectives from hidden autism in liaison psychiatry settings @rcpsych#NATPpsychiatrists
Autistic SPACE: a novel framework for meeting the needs of autistic patients in healthcare settings, so helpful. Five core autistic needs: Sensory, Predictability, Acceptance, Communication, and Empathy https://t.co/kgEK0605j0 @AutisticDoctor@rcpsych@NHSE_WTE#NATPpsychiatrists
@rcpsych@NHSE_WTE@conor_davidson I really like the concept of the "neurodevelopmental galaxy" and constellations of overlapping or co-occurring symptoms between Autism, ADHD, Tourette's etc
High autism underdiagnosis rates across the lifespan - especially in women, older people, and people with mental health problems. Narrowing of M:F ratio from 9:1 to closer to 2:1 @RCPsych@NHSE_WTE@conor_davidson#NATPpsychiatrists
"Hope goes beyond the success of treatment and interventions to a life of value and meaning" thank you @M4ttE11is, shifting from: What is the matter with you? (clinically focussed) > What has happened to you? (trauma-informed) > What matters to you? (recovery focussed)
Helpful to discuss authentic ways to demonstrate visibility as a leader. Being at the table, sharing your voice, so that your values are visible and you are seen to live your values. Really inspiring journeys from @SubhaThiyagesh@M4ttE11is and Ken Taylor @rcpsychLDN
Leading together: meaningful co-production and well-being - @rcpsych leadership and management fellow scheme. Hearing from Ken Taylor, @M4ttEllis, and @SubhaThiyagesh about the transformative power of focusing on what you can do rather than what you can't. @rcpsychLDN
@LizPeecock@drclarabel Great question! Yes the incidence rate the pooled risk were both age-adjusted and higher in woman. So always comparing women to men of the same age. But there was a lot of inconsistency between the individual studies across the globe.
Pleased to have written this blog with @drclarabel - Women are consistently at higher risk of dementia. Increased health equity for women could reduce dementia cases, especially in low and middle income countries where higher dementia risk in women was strongest. Have a read!
Sex differences in dementia risk and risk factors.
New international study suggests:
- dementia risk was higher in women than men
- greater risk in women was most pronounced in LMICs

Misogyny and racial bias routinely putting patients at risk - highly recommend all to read Divided by @SoSowemimo to explore these concepts further, hoping it is translated into action #Core20PLUS5
